You know what I love about Rolston, he just seems so rational. Look at tonight's game. In Philly, Leino says he's healthy, but Rolston says he's not in good enough shape. That's it, he's out. Plain and simple. No hunches. Hecht can be upset but he's not good enough. He's out. Vanek playing well, lots of ice time. Stafford? Down to fourth. Miller burning out. Enroth starting a game. And so on. Read the comments in th stories, dude doesn't play favourites. Knows they can't physically practices because of tough sked so more video. This guy is good.
My litmus test is the PP. No reason it should suck so much. Rolston should be able to keep it simple and get it going at decent pace. We'll see.

PlamsUnlimited 03-10-2013 09:18 AM

Hogtown, I agree with most of that assessment. But yeah, we will need to see some special teams success as well.

Zip15 03-10-2013 09:37 AM

Smell that? That's the stench of us possibly becoming the worst team in the NHL as early as tonight.

I suspect Philly is going to be is a sour mood after getting smacked around by Boston. But, Florida is a train wreck at the moment. My guess is we both lose. I think NYI and Columbus both have tough matchups today as well.

Good, the organization needs the wake-up call and a top draft choice...win-win!!

PlamsUnlimited 03-10-2013 10:15 AM

Better win.

kirby11 03-10-2013 10:17 AM

We're going to take a 2 goal lead then decide to stop playing offense, blow the lead in the 2nd, and then get destroyed in the 3rd. Philly wins 5-3 (we get a troll goal when it's 4-2, but then can't tie it up) Briere will score at least 2 goals

Wisent42 03-10-2013 10:18 AM

Swords 6, Leaflets 3

Vanek, Hodgson, Ennis, Ott, Scott, Ehrhoff
Briere (of course), Tall Bot, Gross Man (Worst superhero ever!)

Leopold back in lineup tonight; Scott will play; Rolston says Sekera is questionable.

Guessing TJ out if Sekera can go, and stays in if he cant
Not sure who comes out for Scott. Porter or Flynn? They have at least been working hard, so I would rather not sit them.

Edit: nm, Scott was in last game. Hard to imagine I missed him.

PP and penalty kill define coaches in my opinion. I don't think any team has an excuse to be bad on special teams. Most teams have 5 elites players to throw on ice. There is no way the Sabres PP should be this bad. No way. You've got Erhoff on point, Vanek in front. shooter in Pominville, playmaker in Ennis. Enough guys to send in to control pucks on boards. It's bad because of execution. Bottom line

Ahem, he was the guy with the remnants of 2, count 'em, TWO black eyes. And RJ made it sound like he beat Parros in that fight! :amazed:

You can point out a bunch of questionable decisions too, most notably having Brennan out there with 1-2 minutes left in the game up 1 on Thursday. He's done plenty right but he's been far from perfect.

Mike Harrington ‏@BNHarrington
Looks like Hecht back in for Grigorenko.

He also broke up a line (HGS) that had scored two ES goals in three games so that he could play an enforcer against the Devils out of fear that things would spiral. After taking one of his better goal-preventers out of the lineup, we blow a two-goal lead in the final 6 minutes.

One regulation win in eight games. I hope we look elsewhere.

Yep, that was just a terrible decision as well. Rolston's done a few things that he's seemingly getting a pass on by most that if it was Ruff doing it, he'd be getting killed.

Eichel 9 03-10-2013 01:25 PM

Yeah, not quite sure why Rolston broke up the HGS line, they were looking quite good as a line getting limited minutes.

Debating how upset I am. Flyers are a physical team, and Grigs might very well be completely manhandled tonight.
