Brandon Dubinsky being shopped--Ottawa sun

http://www.ottawasun.com/2013/03/09/...-ready-to-sell

Columbus GM Jarmo Kekalainen is getting the lay of land, but he's also working the phones trying to clean up the mess left behind by Scott Howson. Sources say Kekalainen has been offering up centre Brandon Dubinsky and his $4.2 million cap hit through 2014-15 around the league. Acquired in the Rick Nash deal by Howson, Dubinsky hasn't been a liability he just makes too much money and Kekalainen doesn't have any ties to the deal ...

If he is in play I think a few teans could be lining up to take a shot at him

from the Oilers maybe MPS + Belanger with the oilers eating 1mill of Belangers contract next year?

I have put this as speculation as I do no trust the source

Id take him on the Isladers for the 3rd line center spot...

Tavares
Nielsen
Dubi
Cizikas

Leafs87 03-10-2013 02:18 PM

I hope Toronto takes a look at Dubinsky, if the price is right

A 4.5M 3rd line center?

Can the Islanders afford that?

I think Dubi > Nielsen.

I would take anything Garrioch says with a glass of anti-freeze.

I'm not sure about now, but when he was on the Rangers he was more effective as a LW. He took faceoffs, then slotted back to the wing.

Dubinsky is one of those guys who will secure value based on name-recognition. If you think about it, though... if a team like Columbus, who is desperate for depth at center, are willing to trade him... is he really worth what Jarmo is likely to ask for?

I think Nielsen is more of a playmaker that why I would leave him as the 2C but it could be switched ....

The Isles can afford it but they most likley wont WANT to do it....

I'd disagree, JMHO though.

Crede777 03-10-2013 02:24 PM

As a Columbus fan this surprises me.

I thought the team was high on him. I'm not very high on him and would be personally open to trading him, but some other fans assumed he (not Jack Johnson) would be the captain in the near future.

Grabovski straight up

Grabo for Dubi

:sarcasm:

Given that Vigneult doesn't seem to want Schroeder on the Canucks third line (which is bizarre given how well he moves the puck and plays on the defensive side), you'd think the Canucks would be interested.

Given Schroeder's age and cap hit, what else would the Jacket's like along with him for Dubinsky?

To be fair, Garrioch called Cole being traded 4-5 days before it happened.

That said, Aaron Portzline pretty much already laughed this one off. Dubinsky isn't producing on the level of his salary, but he's much more valuable to the Jackets than mere numbers explain.

ergo speculation in the prefix

Schenn 03-10-2013 02:41 PM

If Toronto could did acquire a top center in some way, like say Stastny, I'd hope they would inquire about Dubinskey for Grabo...

Stastny
Kadri
Dubinskey

That would be pretty solid if Stastny bounced back.

(I assume Bozak++ for Stastny)

Richiebottles 03-10-2013 02:52 PM

Desharnais + for Dubinsky ?

Numbers 03-10-2013 02:54 PM

Could see a deal around:

Booth
Rodin
2nd

For

Dubinsky

Ranger fans have made the same excuse for him.

what possible use is he to us at 4.2 million?????

Viqsi 03-10-2013 02:56 PM

Garrioch outright hates Columbus as a NHL market and takes regular potshots at CBJ fans on Twitter. Portzline has reacted to this one with snide dismissal ("please, people."). The other rumor floating about with Dubi is that as soon as he gets back from injury he's going to be named team captain.

There's nothing here. It is an utter fabrication, done for no other reason than to pitch dirt at Columbus. Garrioch ought to be fired for this bull****.

Paralyzer008 03-10-2013 02:59 PM

Oh, YOU were the guy who was offering MPS for Dubinsky earlier.

Pass

If the issue is money/contract, this makes zero sense.
