Any word on Enstrom's return?

Have missed most of the last 3 or 4 games. Just wondering if there have been any updates on how Enstrom's injury is progressing, any timetable for his return?

Lynk 03-10-2013 03:38 PM

You're going to have Tobias some more time as we don't know yet.

teebanas 03-10-2013 03:39 PM

We all just have Toby patient . heh..

allan5oh 03-10-2013 03:43 PM

There was a small blurb in a wfp article that he was going to start skating with the team soon.

We need to add this to the Jets' board FAQ

-Yes, we own the rights to Kulda, but he may never come back
-No, we have no idea when player _____ is coming back from injury; TNSE likes secrets
-No, Trouba cannot use the "NCAA loophole", albeit he can refuse to sign until his rights expire (just like every other prospect in the world can do)

Not sure what the big deal is regarding asking about a players injury news. Yes TNSE (along with pretty much EVERY other team) likes to keep injury specifics as quiet as they can. That doesn't mean some info doesn't get out there, especially something like "player _____ is back skating with the team" or "player ____ was placed on IR yesterday, no timetable for return"

We can take this off the FAQ's and replace it with:
- See, we told you we owned the rights to Kulda, and he is coming back. Didn't believe us did you?

What's the NCAA loophole? Everyone uses this term in regards to Schultz but he became a free agent 4 years after his draft just like every other player would have.

A player who plays a year of junior after being drafted and then goes to the NCAA can forgo his 4th year of NCAA hockey and become a free agent. If he plays his 4th year, the team retains his rights for that extra year. So the teams are getting an extra year of rights (1 junior + 4 NCAA).

So Schultz was drafted in June 2008, played the next season in the BCHL, then played the following 3 in the NCAA. He could've played another year in the NCAA and Anaheim would've retained his rights until July 1 of this year, but he was allowed to opt out after 3 years of NCAA hockey and declare himself a UFA because he's played 4 years since his draft (1 junior + 3 NCAA).

Yeah but its still 4 years from his draft year. It isn't some loophole to get to free agency faster. I get the Ducks could have held his rights for an extra year, but that would have been the unusual thing. Him becomign afree agent after 4 years isn't unusual and isn't a loophole really. Its how every player is treated.

Yes, the loophole is really for the teams who get an extra year of rights...

The Jets are still without Toby Enstrom, who is out with a shoulder injury but has resumed skating.

TN doesn't like advertising it, but Toby fancies himself an amature detective in his down time. On flights he is often seen reading Mickey Spilane and Arthur Conan Doyle and occasionally breaks out a fedora and a deerstalker.

Toby isn't actually injured; he's accepted a master detective challenge (kind of like how Monks used to have to fight a more senior member of the order to advance to higher levels in AD&D) which he hasn't completed yet. He's been given the task of finding the Real Killer and just needs to figure out how to get into prison and give OJ a mirror... then it's mission accomplished.

Next up is finding those WMDs for George Bush.

I ate my Kulda words :) :D

Although, I did say MAY :D

For what it's worth:

Brian Munz was talking Jets on Edmonton's The Team 1260 radio. When asked about Enstrom, he said "10-14 days".

No idea where he got that number.

That's more info then has been shared with Jets fans.

Winnipeg Jets ‏@NHLJets

Noel says Enstrom is approximately a week away from returning. Burmistrov is a game-time decision, Thorburn back in tonight vs #Leafs

this is very big news on Toby!!

I would prefer they sit Burmi for a game and avoid the distraction and drama.

From what?

Benching him? Big whoop, it happens all the time. However scratching him tonight could be a good idea regardless. Give him that wake up call to play within the systems.

It does sully but 3 games in a row with the same guy would be a distraction IMO. Give Burmi the night to think about it.
