What position in the east will sabres finish
I am going to go with 12th. but I hope it's less so they get a better draft pick.

PlamsUnlimited 03-10-2013 09:37 PM

14th because Florida.

In an unbelievable turn of events, the Pittsburgh Penguins split into two separate teams and take over 1st & 4th.

Eichel 9 03-10-2013 09:41 PM

Only in front of Florida

Tampa and Washington will finish ahead of us even though they are tied in points right now. (Washington has played 2 less games as well)

Islanders have a 4 point cushion on us

Winnipeg now has a 6 point cushion on us

Philadelphia is clearly better

We finish 2nd last unless the Islanders suck worse than we do for the remainder of the season.

thekenneth 03-10-2013 09:43 PM

the sabres will put enroth in net the next time we play florida.

Who's making the Starbucks run?

Chainshot 03-10-2013 09:49 PM

I'm in the 14th boat -- Florida will still manage to out suck them.

And in a great twist of fate, they'll finish 28th and someone below them will win the lottery pushing them to 4th in the draft order.

I will really be upset if we finish that low. But I know it's probably for the best in the grand scheme of things.

Ahhhhh, a Western New Yorker, you must be........ Yes, you must be......

13th...they will eventually win some games. Sorry........

Jame 03-10-2013 10:11 PM

they need to find a taker for Miller at the deadline...

get a solid asset in return, and improve your chances at mackinnon/drouin/jones

Montag DP 03-10-2013 10:38 PM

I'm really hoping they dump some guys by the deadline and get a top-3 pick. That's not to say I don't cheer for them to win when I'm watching (because, frankly, it's not worth watching if you're cheering for your team to lose), but this year has made it clear that we need some significant roster turnover.

CriminallyVu1gar 03-10-2013 10:47 PM

I'm not sure this season has a prayer of being interesting unless they commit to rebuilding.

Jettison whatever you can of Stafford (contract/terrible), Regehr (contract), Leopold (terrible), Ennis (terrible defensively), maybe Myers (contract/occasionally terrible), and Scott. What does that leave us?

Vanek - Ho_gson - Pominville
Foligno - ? - ?
Ott - Hecht - Leino
Kaleta - ? - Gerbe

Ehrhoff - Sulzer
Sekera - Weber
? - ?

Figure out what Girgensons' ceiling is, hope to god it's that of a solid two way center, hope to get another scoring winger/armia, i don't know...

Royisgone 03-10-2013 11:28 PM

I think we will have trouble finishing worse than Florida.

I would say 14, but I'm afraid we will end up a few spots better than that.

Others have said it many times, but the best bet for guaranteeing a top pick is to trade Miller.

I'd also like to see Vanek moved. I think he would return strong value. I only say this because 1) I question how productive he will be by the time this team could possibly be making a Cup run, and 2) I question whether his body going forward will survive a Stanley Cup run. I don't see that happening.

With the consensus on this one, 14th in front of Florida.

Zip15 03-11-2013 04:33 AM

13th. These idiots have one last three- or four-game winning streak in them as they face a barrage of backup goaltenders for the rest of the season. The Isles will sink when they trade off Lubo, Streit, Boyes, et al. at the deadline.

TehDoak 03-11-2013 06:58 AM

We've got a pretty home heavy schedule down the stretch.

I'm gonna say 11th.

ceky 03-11-2013 07:55 AM

i think it depends id vanek/miller will be on the team after the deadline or they just making their usual regehr for 3rd or stafford for 2nd trade...

more and more i see vanek dealt... could imagine they talked to him about his future, he wrote in his book he wants to play near his wife's home (minnesota) sometimes. maybe with problems signing him longterm they decide to deal TV. he could bring in some great assets/picks

.....but i would absolutely hate that :banghead:

If you think this season has been ugly, strap yourself in Dorothy cuz you ain't seen nothing yet.

Right now, Rolston is NOT a lame duck coach only because the 8th spot isn't out of reach yet. I believe that the barometer for RR to remain as the head coach is whether the team makes the playoffs... bare minimum. When it becomes painfully clear to even the most optimistic Sabre fan that the playoffs are unrealistic, then RR is a dead man walking.

The players will know that the season is over and that the guy barking at them to hustle won't be there come tee time.

Deevo 03-11-2013 08:41 AM

We gon sell. I think Darcy's gonna surprise us.

14th in the East.

Eichel 9 03-11-2013 09:34 AM

In a last ditch effort to save his job, Darcy doesn't sell off anyone and the Sabres are actually the biggest buyers at the deadline even though we are in 14th place at the time. HFboards goes crazy, Sabres become the laughing stock of the league as we trade picks and prospects for UFA vets, we finish 9th place with some great play after the deadline, but just fall short. Darcy is commended for the effort, and Pegula tells everyone that we should be excited for next season based on how the team played down the stretch.
