Not eligible for this season. Had to be makin 3M+ against the cap.

Sevanston 03-11-2013 11:28 AM

Can't say we didn't see something like this coming

Sad what concussions did to him

billysbreakdown 03-11-2013 11:32 AM

How's he been playing?
By the looks of previous posts... -not good.

TheDoorDoctor 03-11-2013 11:37 AM

What are the chances of him actually getting picked up by another team?

I think if someone wanted him, he would have been traded for a conditional 7th. The odds are extremely low he gets claimed.

Cullksinikers 03-11-2013 11:41 AM

If he is in the AHL, we still have his cap hit, right? I guess they just want another roster spot or to try and clear his salary.

coldsteelonice84 03-11-2013 11:45 AM

Yeah, his cap hit minus 900K.

Given his history, if I were a GM I wouldn't have considered giving up even conditional assets for him

But I might take a flier on picking him up from the waiver wire. That's basically what the waiver wire is all about, isn't it? Picking up other teams' reclamation projects without having to give up any assets.

Cullksinikers 03-11-2013 11:55 AM

He has the rest of this year and two more years after this at $2.75 million. That's extremely pricy for him.

Hawkaholic 03-11-2013 11:56 AM

Hawks are hoping somebody claims him, if not he'll play in the AHL until they are done then he will be our 8th Dman. More like a conditioning stint then a permanent thing imo.

I think it be more of a headache then it could even potentially be worth, no pun intended. That's a lot of money.

Montador doesn't need to be waived for a conditioning stint. Any NHL player coming off an injury can be sent to the AHL for 2 weeks without clearing waivers. After the 2 weeks they must clear waivers only if the team intends on keeping them in the AHL.

The only reason for Montador being waived that I can see is the organization doesn't have a place for him with Rozsival and Brookbank currently playing 6th and 7th D-man. Montador would only be called up in case of need due to injuries.

His roster spot on the Hawks should really belong to a forward, someone like Morin, Hayes, or Pirri, because we do not currently have good forward depth with our only alternates being Mayers and Bollig. There is no reason at all to keep 8 D on the active roster and only 13 forwards. 7 D and 14 F is optimal.

Blackhawkswincup 03-11-2013 12:45 PM

No big deal

- If he gets claimed the Hawks will be happy
- If he doesn't get claimed then he can work himself into game shape in Rockford and provides depth for Hawks in event of injury

Hasn't been, been recovering from a concussion all season.

Bubba88 03-11-2013 04:11 PM

there is about 0.0001% chance a team will claim him off waivers. Monty will get back to game shape in Rockford.

brtriad 03-11-2013 06:22 PM

He couldn't be waived if he wasn't healthy, at least passable by the doctors, no?

I'd think so.

...and if he weren't healthy I'd think they would have left him on LTIR.

The Frenchman 03-11-2013 06:57 PM

hope Olesz is next.

Illinihockey 03-12-2013 11:17 AM

I doubt they waive him, if they do, he won't play in Rockford. They will sit him so he's healthy for a buy-out.

Bubba88 03-12-2013 03:32 PM

no team wanted Montador. That's no surprise. Still had a slight hope a GM would be foolish enough to take him

ChiGuySez 03-12-2013 03:36 PM

Wasnt Montador also the player rep. Management doesnt usually like them. Wonder whos the next player rep for the Hawks.
