Top 5 fastest players in the league today?

Not necessarily the best overall skaters but rather the top 5 fastest straight ahead skaters in the league right now. Go.

NutCracker 03-11-2013 03:07 PM

Hagelin, Grabner, Cogliano, Helm, Letang. Might have forgotten someone

Tralfamadore 03-11-2013 03:12 PM

I'd go Gaborik, Grabner, Duchene, Hall, and Helm in no particular order. I'm sure some of those name could be replaced though.

TheNuge 03-11-2013 03:20 PM

One name faster than them all not in the league... Kuznetsov

In the league in order

Grabner, Gaborik, Hall, Helm, Cogliano

JDinkalage Morgoone 03-11-2013 03:21 PM

Grabner, Cogliano, Helm, Gaborik, Powe!

Dangles McGavin 03-11-2013 03:21 PM

Maybe it's because I see him play a lot, but JVR is really damn fast when he gets going. He's up there for sure.

Grabner is likely #1. He's insane.

Kaner Coffee 03-11-2013 03:21 PM

Stalberg's pretty quick. Don't know where he ranks, though.

kmad 03-11-2013 03:22 PM

GRabner, Raymond, Cogliano, Helm, Hagelin

S E P H 03-11-2013 03:22 PM

Not trying to make "X player" on "My Team" post, but the lack of Duchene is kind of puzzling, he is definitely top 5.

jw2 03-11-2013 03:23 PM

I don't think anyone can touch Grabner, right now. Fastest guy on the ice.

Hagelin, Halll, Helm next 3. Can't pick a #5, but I'm sure I'm missing an obvious choice somewhere.

ClasslessGuy 03-11-2013 03:25 PM

Laraque use to be fast

dimi19 03-11-2013 03:26 PM

Stalberg is definitely up there. Wicked speed for a big guy.

After watching Gaborik and Hagelin night in and night for the last year, there is no doubt in my mind thy Hagelin is a step faster. Gaborik might have been faster when he was Hagelin's age, but not now.

dabeechman 03-11-2013 03:29 PM

Voynov is pretty high up there. When he did his skills challenge he did a 14.1 I believe. Grabner did a 14.0x and a 14.2 during his.

StrongIslanders90 03-11-2013 03:29 PM

Grabners nickname...."Stone hands Fire feet"

guy gets 2-3 really good breakaways a game and almost never scores on them

MTrangers 03-11-2013 03:30 PM

Hagelin, Duchene, Grabner, Hall, Helm.

People putting Gaborik and not Hagelin are watching Ranger highlights from years past. Has seemed to lose a step this year.

Beat me to it.

RealisticLeaf55 03-11-2013 03:31 PM

Grabner, Letang, Kessel, Hagelin, Duchene, Hall, Helm.

WreckItRask 03-11-2013 03:33 PM

Not a household name yet, but Jason Zucker for the Wild has absolute jets.

As for my Bruins...nope. Peverley and Seguin have wheels, but they're not near top 5 leaguewide I don't think. But, man, can Zucker scoot for the Wild. Just an incredible skater. Must have learned that skating on the frozen ponds of Las Vegas.

Mattb124 03-11-2013 03:33 PM

HM to Marleau. He may not be in the top 5 anymore, but from time to time he just amazes in how he can pull away from other NHL players.

hmm sounds a lot like a guy named helm

Killem Dafoe 03-11-2013 03:34 PM

Hagelin, Grabner, Duchene, Hall are a few. No one said Greening, I think he's damn speedy. No way Gaborik is even close to those guys lately.

Rob Nieds work ethic 03-11-2013 03:34 PM

Grabner, Helm, Gionta (Stephen), Duchene, Cogliano

Gaborik is not among the fastest skaters in the league, the absolute top, that is.
