Niemi has another great game, but the Sharks offense fails again.

1-2 Blues
Scwartz, Berglund
Couture

TheJuxtaposer 03-12-2013 03:07 AM

5-2 Blues. Berglund, Sobotka x2, Perron, Nichol. Clowe x2.

Thanks a ton, Dan. This is a lot more than you needed to do.

Anyway, I'm really hoping Wingo gets an extended look with Couture and Thornton. He's shown he belongs, he was instrumental on that Couture goal a couple games ago, and he's a good forechecker. If only we had a better linemate for Marleau/Pavelski...

parad0x 03-12-2013 03:25 AM

I'm going to be optimistic for the game tonight and say the Sharkies find their offense

SNOG: Sharks win 3-1

Sharks 3
Marleau, Couture, Gomez

Blues 1
Oshie

JayP812 03-12-2013 03:28 AM

The boys want revenge for Saturday, I think we get it this time.

3-2 Sharks
Couture, Boyle, Sheppard
Perron, Shattenkirk

Strider2552 03-12-2013 03:39 AM

Sharks 5-2
Burns x5
Backes, Perron

Burns wins the Richard trophy playing third line wing the rest of the year

TheJuxtaposer 03-12-2013 03:42 AM

And for my obligatory "you done ****ed up", Thornton's got 24 points, not 23.

For you, Dan, Imma ban Jux from all your future GDTs. I'd do it for mine as well, but that would be out of self interest

Great job, bud!

The world would be a better place if everyone were as attentive as me. :p:

But anyway, I found a really fun stat: When Murray and Handzus are on the ice together, the Sharks have a Corsi For of 40%. As it turns out, when Handzus is on without Murray, he's got a 48%. When Murray is on without Handzus, he's got a 43%. So as it turns out, Murray is worse than Handzus.

Also, for all them Braun haters, Murray is 38.5% without Braun, 45% with Braun, and Braun is 54% with anyone but Murray. Also notable is the Burish-Murray combination's team-worst 31% and the Desjardins-Murray combination's 36%. Also Demers' 55% without Murray.

But basically, if the Sharks can avoid Murray and the Desjardins-Handzus-Burish line on the ice at the same time, they're all good.

But of course, the easiest solution to this whole problem is to get rid of Murray. I know he's a #6 defenseman, but he really is this big of a problem. I'm beyond done with Larry Robinson for playing him. DW, just get over your ego. Yes, he's paid $2.5M. Yes, he's a veteran. Yes, he's played well in the past. But either ship him out for a 7th if there are any takers, or bench his ass.

We better ****ing win...

Mafoofoo 03-12-2013 07:39 AM

We're gonna win so hard today. I can feel it in my bones.

HOOCH2173 03-12-2013 08:56 AM

well here we go again.

Sharks - 3 (Cooter, Marleau and Wingles)
Blues - 2 (Sobotka and Berglund)

beertelescope 03-12-2013 09:12 AM

Lockout schedule is weird. We've played all three games against the Blues, Avs, but haven't even played one against L.A. or Minnesota yet (I know they're coming up).

Sharks win in a shootout?

sjshrky27 03-12-2013 09:15 AM

Blues :5

Sharks :"baby steps"

stator 03-12-2013 09:48 AM

Good lord, I cannot watch another Blues game just like the last one.

I don't want to stir the pot...much.
Folks, all these stats are very interesting, but you do know that on the ice the SHARKS have the fewest GA in the Western Conference and 3rd only to Boston and Ottawa in the NHL, right?
Our problem is not defense, it is the PP/:box:
It's not really Murray or Burish's job to score on PP...is it?

The problem with putting Murray on the ice is that it becomes very hard to clear the zone because of the turnovers. This also puts us in a bad situation defensively because now Murray is left defending which has very often resulted in goals.

I agree that it is not Murray's job to score goals, but for a team in a scoring slump like ours, we cannot afford to have turnovers like this. We have lost too many games by a goal or gone to OT because of that goal and lost there.

Internazionale 03-12-2013 10:25 AM

Good god this is gonna get ugly. I can't bear to watch Murray, Braun and Clowe anymore, and tonight will be the first sharks game I don't watch all season. Maybe that will change the fortunes for the team, but I doubt it...

The Stats that Jux is talking about are not so much about offense as they about the puck going in the right direction. It means when Murray is on the ice the Sharks are unable to get the puck out of their own zone basically. Or when it is in the offensive zone the Sharks are unable to get shots off. So yes, he is not providing offense, but he's also tilting the ice in the opponents favor whenever he is on.

vilpertti 03-12-2013 10:41 AM

Where does one find the turnover stat from?
