joestevens29 03-13-2013 11:14 AM

Oh wow

Mike Krushelnyski 03-13-2013 11:14 AM

Ben Eager

As per tweet by Bob Mackenzie... guess Brown made him expendable?

Seachd 03-13-2013 11:15 AM

Ben Eager

According to McKenzie.

Didn't see that coming.

He'll get claimed... Right?

GreatKeith 03-13-2013 11:16 AM

Three threads in a 10 second span, way to go HFOil.

Surprised though.

The Last Dynasty 03-13-2013 11:17 AM

Ouch...wonder if his attitude had anything to do with it

terrible signing

T-Funk 03-13-2013 11:17 AM

impressive

dnicks17 03-13-2013 11:17 AM

They must be hoping he gets claimed to free up a contract space/his salary, otherwise I don't get it.

Fixed to Ruin 03-13-2013 11:18 AM

too bad. I like his wheels, but that's all i like about his game. He needs to be more physical to keep a job at the NHL level.

402 03-13-2013 11:18 AM

Didn't see that coming though he was a healthy scratch twice in a row and I'm sure #20 wants to get back into the lineup
He wasn't really fully embracing his tough guy role either
I bet he gets claimed

With brown here it was either eager or petrell and they went with eager

fysloc 03-13-2013 11:18 AM

I don't get it, wasn't he finally becoming the player we signed him to be?

Didn't see that coming.

Something had to give with Belanger coming off IR.

Brown is basically doing what we wanted Eager to do. He's expendable.

Hopefully someone takes him off our hands.

dss97 03-13-2013 11:19 AM

I thought Eager played well this year, but it is pretty obvious that Brown > Eager.

s7ark 03-13-2013 11:20 AM

Good. He has been a huge disappointment. He's played perhaps a half dozen games of the style he was signed to play. I hope someone picks him up, but I doubt it.

Brown made Eager expendable.

Simply put they have too many players. He could be joining Hordi very soon.

Belanger also needs to be waived

So is this one addition through subtraction?

I don't understand this one at all. Eager is a considerably better hockey player than Mike Brown, Matt Kassian, etc, etc.... Tambellini couldn't get a draft pick out of someone looking for a 4th line grinder?

Obviously too many bodies, but come on.

caley 03-13-2013 11:20 AM

I think it was Tencer who tweeted the other day that Edmonton was not happy with the way Eager was embracing, or not embracing, his role. My guess is he's unwilling to fight after his concussion earlier this year.

With another year at $1.1 million, he'll clear.

How so? His physicality has been so inconsistent. Can't/shouldn't fight. Doesn't contribute much else.

They're redundant.

He leads our forwards in hits and he has only played 14 games.

dnicks17 03-13-2013 11:22 AM

What happens if he clears?

He doesn't seem like a guy who would embrace a demotion to OKC at all.
