Kings - Sabres Trade In Works?

Quote:

Kings and Sabres are in trade talks. A league source says LA will trade with Buffalo. We shall see.

Writer for TFP - covers the Kings so he has some idea what he's talking about.

Leopold or Regehr to LA?

umwoz 03-13-2013 02:01 PM

Are the Kings really in the market for another defenseman? I don't follow them often, maybe some injuries?

I'm sure either of the two could be had for a 2nd.

Kershaw 03-13-2013 02:01 PM

Pominville for 1st, Toffolli

Trxjw 03-13-2013 02:02 PM

Bernier to facilitate moving Miller. :amazed: :sarcasm:

Don't have a 1st this year (Columbus for the Carter trade). Doubt Dean moves back to back 1sts.

Live in the Now 03-13-2013 02:02 PM

Regehr hopefully.

No first, and if we trade Toffolli, I'll eat my hat.

Edit: Though now that he's on the NHL roster, have to wonder if it's another NHL forward. Richardson? Rights to Holloway :sarcasm:

Rasmus Reichel 03-13-2013 02:03 PM

Probly stafford for brown :sarcasm:

"@Sfildes1: @DennisTFP any idea as to who they are talking about?" Have to think Regher, Kings gave 5 in PHX last night, need puck stopper

This makes the most sense. Regehr is Sutter's favorite player and was the top guy in Calgary for many years. Could make a nice addition with Doughty.

HockeyGuruPitka 03-13-2013 02:06 PM

Dont see this being legit

Zip15 03-13-2013 02:06 PM

Gee, he's not piggy-backing the Dave Davis report is he? Sabres and Kings? Regehr?

Where could he have found this information. Oh, wait...

FWIW, here's the latest "scout sighting" conjecture:

You can draw your own conclusions from facts, especially when the NHL trade deadline is approaching.

Well, here's an indisputable truth for you: the Sabres and Kings have been checking each other out a lot lately.

The Sabres have had a scouting presence at Staples Center for most Kings games over the past couple of weeks, more so than in other Western Conference buildings (just two examples, but they haven't been in Detroit or Columbus recently).

L.A., along with Vancouver, Chicago, Dallas, Edmonton, Colorado, and five Eastern Conference teams, had scouts at FNC last night for Buffalo's 3-1 win over the Rangers.

I've learned that the gentleman from the Kings is responsible for covering all of the Canadian teams plus the Sabres and Penguins. While there were numerous alternatives last night with games taking place involving Pittsburgh, Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto and Winnipeg, he was in Buffalo watching the Sabres.

When I first mentioned the mutual Sabres-Kings infatuation on Monday, I was asked by some readers and twitter followers which players are being discussed. I'm just not in a good place to be throwing out names on my own, so this is the part where I won't pretend to know more than the Dregers and LeBruns of the world. I do know that a few mainstream outlets have hinted that the Kings like Robyn Regehr, but it's a safe bet that most contending teams like him.

God I hope not. The Blues REALLY need Regehr...Not for him to go to the team they can't beat!

stokes84 03-13-2013 02:07 PM

Probably something like Stafford for Penner.

Jag68Sid87 03-13-2013 02:07 PM

So basically, the Kings aren't expecting either Mitchell or Greene back?

I think they're not very happy with Alec Martinez' play this season.

Agreed. Regehr played his best hockey under Sutter. Would love to see him in LA.

Zip15 03-13-2013 02:09 PM

What would LA give up for Regehr? 2nd rounder?

Martinez started out string but since his injury has been Horrawful.
Elleby is a stop gap at best.
Greene may make it back for playoffs.
Mitchell sounds like he is done.
IMO we would love Regehr

It would suck not to have a pick in the first two rounds this year. Maybe 2014 draft, or try and package in a 4th with a prospect. I doubt that Buffalo would do this then though.
What did Calgary get for Regehr?

clumping platelets 03-13-2013 02:14 PM

Regehr and Stafford for Stoll and pick or prospect

umwoz 03-13-2013 02:15 PM

Regier pulled a 1st for Gaustad, maybe something to keep in mind.
