First Round: #1 Halifax vs. #16 Saint John

Official with a Sherbrooke win tonight.

After watching SJ dominate us every time they came into the HMC from 2008-2011, it will be nice to have the tables turned ... Although I expect a snoozer of a series as any would think when 1 plays 16.
Moose sweep.

Schedule

Game 1 - Fri Mar 22 | 7:00 PM | Saint John 1 @ Halifax 11

Game 2 - Sat Mar 23 | 7:00 PM | Saint John 1 @ Halifax 2

Game 3 - Tue Mar 26 | 7:00 PM | Halifax @ Saint John

Game 4 - Wed Mar 27 | 7:00 PM | Halifax @ Saint John

Game 5 - Fri Mar 29 | 7:00 PM | * Saint John @ Halifax

Game 6 - Sun Mar 31 | 3:00 PM | * Halifax @ Saint John

Game 7 - Tue Apr 2 | 7:00 PM | * Saint John @ Halifax

Halifax leads series 2-0

George Maharis 03-16-2013 10:07 PM

No doubt Moose win in 4...
I wonder what the scores will be though.. in the 8 games the 2 played this season, Halifax outscored them 43-16.

I also wonder how many points our first line can get.
Drouin has 14pts in 6gp against SJ.
MacKinnon has 6pts in 4gp.
Frk has 6pts in 6gp.

IHaveNoCreativity 03-16-2013 11:49 PM

Will be Moose in 4 no contest.

Auger will keep things paw though.

Fel 96 03-17-2013 12:16 AM

Definitely Halifax in 4.

SJ should thank Huberdeau and the NHL lockout if they are in a playoff spot IMO.

I agree. Carried us.

Moose win in 4.

My only concern with this series is "message sending" by Saint John's tougher players. It's not a knock against Saint John or any one on their team. But it's always the concern with any 1 vs 16 matchup.

This won't be as high scoring as the Saint John vs Cape Breton matchup a few years ago. But it should be 4-0 Moose. It'll be a good warmup for them to play meaningful games before they have to face a Rouyn-Noranda, Drummondville or Val d'Or in the 2nd round.

I was scared that Cape Breton would try something against us yesterday. They're our biggest rivals, and in last place... they didn't exactly have anything to lose!! I thought about posting something Sunday saying I hope it doesn't happen, but on the off-chance it did, I didn't want the blame

I knew nothing was going to happen because there was no need for it. There's no need for "message sending" because the season is over. 99.9% of the coaches know this and will control their players.

Saint John and CB may be rivals but we haven\t exactly formed a hate against this years versions of those teams ... Ian Saab is a goon, nothing to worry about though really.

Worst case scenario, Saab does something stupid and we call Warner up for game 4. Eye for an eye ;)

You guys have Alcade lol.

spfan 03-18-2013 10:22 PM

Halifax in 4.

A more interesting matchup would have been the 10/11 or 11/12 Sea Dogs vs this years Mooseheads.

Warner has no ... Feelings? Restrain? lol .... Warner took a full length ice run at someone just to hit him in the knee .... I don't think he was aware there was even a puck on the ice. Although it would kill to get hit by Alcalde, he's a big boy and some hits he throws are huge.

Thanks to Reesor I saw a comparison of the two the other day ... Halifax scored more, but SJ had better D ... It would be interesting for sure, but if we don't get to the Memorial Cup there's no point in a comparison ..

And who gets MacAulay lol.

Us, but IMO SJ was deeper and deadlier upfront as a whole.

Thank you for making my morning. Made me lol at work.

As for Halifax 2013 vs Saint John 2011, Dogs in 6. They were just too well-rounded. Would be an entertaining series though.

London 2005: London in 5. Best CHL team I've ever had the privilege of watching.

fst6 03-19-2013 07:51 AM

Think they'll pull out a grindy win.

Moose in 5. Would like to get a ticket to one of these games.

WildcatMapleLeafs28 03-19-2013 11:22 AM

Halifax in 4.

Stephen23 03-19-2013 12:58 PM

Going to game 1 on Friday. Due to other commitments, I unfortunately wont be able to attend game 2 or game 5. I suspect Halifax will win in 5 games. I expect MacKinnon to shine this series.

George Maharis 03-22-2013 06:18 PM

Moose are up 5-1 in the 2nd... What's even more amazing, is that Halifax is out-shooting SJ 33-4..

Frk has 4pts (2g 2a)
MacKinnon has 2pts (2g)
Drouin has 2pts (2a)

Insane.

EDIT: 6-1.... Frk with the natural hat-trick.

donghabs98 03-22-2013 06:21 PM

Frk with the Hat trick :yo:

5 point night so far

Edit-Andrews just scored

Jeez 03-22-2013 06:28 PM

GO Marty !!!

Edit - 3rd assist = 6th point so far tonight

George Maharis 03-22-2013 06:33 PM

Halifax Goal Total > SJ Shot Total....

Frk now has 7pts (4g 3a)
Drouin has 4pts (4a)
Mac has 4pts (2g 2a)

Frk now has the record for most points by a Halifax Moosehead in a post-season game... Previously held by Alex Tanguay with 6.

EDIT: Now 10-1, still in the 2nd. 1 goal away from tying the franchise record of most goals in a game.

donghabs98 03-22-2013 06:35 PM

Frk is nuts right now

donghabs98 03-22-2013 06:35 PM

10-1 now :amazed:
