All teams trade deadline preparation (needs)

With the deadline coming up in a few weeks I thought it could help people really understand what each fan base feels their team should be selling and what they should be shopping for

From the habs I feel we need a crease clearing veteran on D and a grinder type player for our fourth line (hits, defends, fights). Could also be in the market for a big body for our top 6-9 that can score but isn't too old that he doesn't fit with our young core

We'd be willing to part with a picks (1 from both the second and third) moen, weber, bourque, lesser prospects and if the price is right perhaps Gionta

Chris Stewart is being dangled in St. Louis, probably looking for a defenseman. Would love to see him on the Habs, big, physical, can score, not a rental, not too old, perfect fit IMO.

According to Bruce Garroch, Habs are also interested in Corey Perry, Ryane Clowe, and Robyn Regehr.

Stewart's not available. Don't believe Strickland who started that BS and Dreger who just repeated what Strickland said.

Vancouver:

3rd line center (Vermette, Goc type)
Top-6 playmaker (center or RW): Derek Roy is an example.
Depth RH d-man

Any picks, prospects not named Kassian/Jensen, Booth, Raymond, Ballard should all be available.

zeus3007* 03-17-2013 05:57 PM

I think a lot of teams are still waiting to see where the chips fall in the playoff race. Especially in the West, where every team could still make the playoffs. If, for example, Columbus, stays on their hot streak, they may change from potential sellers to buyers. Or if a team like Detroit or Vancouver falls back, then they may decide to move some pieces instead of bringing anyone in. Its hard to say at this point.

Ho Borvat 03-17-2013 05:58 PM

Montreal
Andrew Alberts
Tom Sestito

Vancouver
Travis Moen

Small trade, but MTL gets a crease clearing d-man and a 4th line enforcer.
Vancouver gets a defensively sound 4th liner

For Vancouver, a Moen Lapierre Weise 4th line would be very solid.

Duffman955 03-17-2013 06:00 PM

Leafs needs:

-Top4 Dman that can play top pairing minutes in a shutdown role

-Large 2nd/3rd line center

I'd actually be very interested in that trade but I have my doubts about sestito's defensive game

PocketNines 03-17-2013 06:12 PM

The only significant Blues need is a big minutes, all-situations LHD. Plenty of non-top-pairing LHD on the roster already, so unless there's an injury over the next six games there's not much need for a "depth" dman.

Up front, the Blues could use another two-way scoring line center but it's way, way, way less of a need for this postseason. Tons of high-quality wingers, three capable defensive centers, plenty of 4th line depth, not much need for a shakeup trade, so it's basically defense the Blues would be looking to acquire. The general both-sides fan consensus Giordano deal is probably the template.

Not a guy you play in the last 5 minutes when your up a goal.
But he hasn't been terrible defensively (although it may be due to sheltering).

Alberts has looked good this season, and next to Bieksa is probably our most vicious guy infront of the net.

Jax Teller 03-17-2013 06:17 PM

Leafs are selling D-men.

Liles, Kostka or Komisarek. Take your pick.

Oh... Connolly is in play aswell. :naughty:

LeafsandSharksfan 03-17-2013 06:24 PM

Leafs need a RH D-man who can play a simple, shutdown game for big minutes.

ottawa 03-17-2013 06:26 PM

Habs need a big, hard hitting 2nd/3rd liner that can contribute on the scoresheet and maybe an experienced #4 or #5 defenseman (rental).

Can you tell me who St. Louis is interested in, since you're part of the Blues' management ?

So far for the habs wants are pretty much wrong. We need a guy who can win faceoffs consistently. Very badly.

Also has to be useful beyond that.

Killswitch7187 03-17-2013 06:39 PM

Pittsburgh is looking for depth on the wing... now the way you look at it is debatable. If we keep the top-6 the same, we're still looking to improve upon our 3rd and 4th lines. Or the other option is to go after the top-6 wing and move Dupuis down to the 3rd line which would be an ideal fit. Either way, also looking for an improvement on the 4th line.

I don't think anybody is "available" per se, but any of Niskanen, Despres, Kennedy, or Jeffrey could be had in order to upgrade our need on the wing if the right price is met. I think prospects and picks would be the first to go before the Niskanen's of the sort, but definitely not out of the realm of possibility.

See Pocket Nines previous post. I am sure that any trade involving Stewart would be heard, but the Blues are not actively trying to move him. If a deal is done with Stewart then some team is going to pay a heavy price in the form of a top line LHD and prospects/draft picks.

Lol this is what I was going to say.

A professional with inside connections and plenty of credentials says a player is available? Don't listen to him. I'm a fan of the team and have decided he's not available

I doubt Strickland has many actual connections. The Blues insiders rip on him every chance they get. It's Chaser's and Kerber's favorite past-time.

duxfan8 03-17-2013 07:10 PM

Ducks could use a #2 center, even if he'll be an UFA. Could also use a top 6 LW.

Sparksrus3 03-17-2013 07:13 PM

Islanders need Mike Keenan

Knight of the Realm 03-17-2013 07:20 PM

Kings needs depend on Mitchell and Greene returning.

If either can't come back then maybe a vet Dman to spell some of the youngsters and provide insurance in case of more injuries.

Kings really need Quick to return to impeccable form.

Yannick Weber for a 4rth

RSeen 03-17-2013 07:27 PM

NJ needs a top 6 LW.

Has excess D men and are willing to trade Tallinder or Volchenkov. Also have a few NHL ready D men prospects in the minors in Urbom (big shut-down D men) and Gelinas (big puck moving D man, can play on the PP and has a bomb of a shot). Players like Mattias Tedenby and Jacob Josefson could be had if we can immediately help this team.

AngelDuck 03-17-2013 07:31 PM

Ducks needs:

Fast, playmaker that can score 50-60 points and play on the 2nd line. Preferably a center.

A fast 50-60 point playmaking center is going to cost a ton... Who are you trading for let's say Tyler Ennis...
