Justin Hodgman of the KHL

Heard that he played on the Marlies just 2 seasons ago.

Eakins was very high on him when hour coached him calling him the most fundamentally skilled player on his team other then kadr

What do you all think of him?

Looks interesting bring him on back!

Your typical scrub. Hope he has a successful KHL career though. His NA numbers are just not impressive at all.

If he is considered the best non European in the khl he is definitely. More then a scrub imo

Some are just to eager to dismiss a player so they look bad ass

Good old Brampton kid. Wouldn't mind bringing him in again

I'm an anonymous person on the internet -- the last thing I'm concerned about is how "badass" I look to other anonymous people on the internet :p:

31 points in 51 KHL games aren't exactly blowing me away. One good season in the SM-Liiga does not a top 6 centre make.

Leaf Lander 03-17-2013 10:53 PM

His ice time was cut because he played on a team that had maliki n kuleemin and later Ryan o'rielly

goonx 03-17-2013 10:56 PM

I'm not that impressed.. looks like a boom or a bust kinda prospect.

Maybe give him another shot in the AHL but he's played for 10 different teams. Perhaps it's a personality issue. If he's that good, why hasn't anyone given him a shot?

(Mike Zigomanis, Joe Colborne, Philippe Dupuis, Darryl Boyce) = not exactly your all-star center depth.

Leaf Lander 03-17-2013 10:58 PM

Or maybe he just followed the moneyy

and...back to the character issue. Canadian boy who doesn't want to stick it through in the AHL and maybe a chance at the NHL.Who grows up thinking "I want to play in the KHL"?

I'm not knocking on you or him. I think there's probably hidden european prospects out there. Look at Fasth!

I'll eat my words if he joins the NHL and becomes a 50 pt center.

ktf 03-17-2013 11:12 PM

I liked him when he played for the Marlies, but... It must be noted that he finished the season with less points and goals the Kulemin despite playing 15 more games. Kulemin is solid, but hodgman doesn't really strike me as third or fourth line material and I do not think he is going to score in the nhl

Donato 03-17-2013 11:14 PM

if any other team not named the leafs picked him up.. he would put up 70 points in the NHL

if we picked him up, he would put up 40 max lol.. just the luck we have.

Anton Slepyshev?

Haha, nah, but the KHL is a helluva league. Nothing wrong with being a successful KHL player -- still a hell of an accomplishment.

Leaf Lander 03-17-2013 11:21 PM

Hmm he obviously will make more money in the khl and be set for life
or make a 70 K in the ahl as a undrafted prospect

DD03 03-17-2013 11:22 PM

Looks at Grabovski and Kulemin's KHL numbers plus countless other NHLers..

Is he 1C ?

Ricky Bobby 03-18-2013 10:35 AM

Since that article was posted back in November he's lost Malkin and his numbers have dropped.

Komarov put up comparable KHL numbers and can't score in the NHL but Komarov does other things well like agitate/forecheck that give him a role as a 3rd/4th liner.

Unless Hodgman can be very good at one or two of the following like kill penalties/agitate/fight/faceoffs/shoot out specialist/etc. he wouldn't have a role on this team. If your not a scorer you better be very good at something else like Komarov/McClement/Orr are.
