Canucks' First NHL Goals

Bit of a gloomy evening around these parts, so I figured I'd start a bit of a Historical thread.

In this thread, I'm going to try and compile the "first NHL goal" for each member of the Vancouver Canucks.

Daniel Sedin

(0:23 of the video)

Henrik Sedin

Alexandre Burrows

Mason Raymond

Ryan Kesler

Jannik Hansen

(0:16 of the video)

David Booth

(2:21 of the video)

Chris Higgins

Maxim Lapierre

(2:38 of the video)

Zack Kassian

Dale Weise

Jordan Schroeder

Andrew Ebbett

(2:00 of the video)

Kevin Bieksa

Dan Hamhuis

Alexander Edler

(1:30 of the video)

Jason Garrison

Chris Tanev

Keith Ballard

Andrew Alberts

Cam Barker

---

As we find more, I'll update the OP.

CanucksSayEh 03-19-2013 02:37 AM

Is there any Canuck ever who's had a better first goal than Tanev?

Jyrki 03-19-2013 02:38 AM

Man, we could really use Toronto in our division right now and get a Burrows hat trick.

Superpest 03-19-2013 02:42 AM

If it helps I remember Kesler's first goal was a tip in off a Linden pass versus Calgary.

If we're talking about all-time, we don't have to go very far back to find Michael Grabner's game-tying goal late in the 3rd period against the Chicago Blackhawks in October 2009, the first meeting between the two teams in the 2009-10 season and only a few months after the Canucks had been eliminated by the Hawks in the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Mikael Samuelsson would score the game-winning goal a few minutes later to secure the win for Vancouver. It was the perfect way to avenge the team's elimination against the Hawks in May 2009.

CanucksSayEh 03-19-2013 02:54 AM

meh, I still take Tanev's. Shelfer, OT, right over Yakupov and after such a long build up. Any goal vs the Hawks is nice though.

Lee Sweatt, the unlikely 5'8'' defenseman defeating all odds and scoring his first goal in his first ever NHL game? It was also the game-winning goal, scored late in the 3rd period against Nashville.

Sergei Shirokov 03-19-2013 03:49 AM

I saw both Burrows and Weise's goals live Lol

Pip 03-19-2013 05:25 AM

gosh these are really tough to find, most of these goals are pre Youtube

put in 20 minutes of searching with no success at all

Reverend Mayhem 03-19-2013 08:10 AM

Looks like this was Hansen's first NHL goal. 16 seconds in to the video. Crazy game too.

I didn't realize he went goalless all the way into the 2008-09 season, he's been with us since the '07 playoffs.

Reverend Mayhem 03-19-2013 08:12 AM

Also I believe Daniel's first goal was against Tampa vs none other than Dan Cloutier.

Add Lapierre to the list of 1sts scored vs TB... 12/14/06 2:38, it's a tip-in.

David Booth 1/4/07 vs CGY. 2:21 is the footage you want to look at. Another tip-in.

Andrew Ebbett 1/2/09 vs PHI. 2:00. Another tip-in.

Alex Edler 11/30/06 vs ANA. 1:30. Point shot.

Barker's first goal. Not sure how to get this URL into a video on the site, maybe someone can fix that for me

Hard to find Hank's. Here's the game sheet:

Can't find a highlight though.

There's one familiar name in net, though:

Backup Bob.

Score sheet has a notable lack of Zenith Komarniski and Drake Berehowsky.

Forget that, the officials called 13 minor penalties in one game?!?!?! :amazed::amazed::amazed:

Royal Canuck 03-21-2013 04:40 AM

Funny to watch the reactions of some of these guys, Sweatt and Tanev especially.

Real Gudbranson 03-21-2013 04:45 AM

Not a current canuck, but still pretty memorable.

Reverend Mayhem 11-21-2014 05:44 PM

Sorry, had to. :D

Not only was the goal nice but look how happy the boys are him :D Seems like a little extra compared to most 1st goals.

Or maybe it's just in my head 'cause I'm a Tanman fanboy.
