Bouillon signed to a contract extension (1 year, $1.5 million)

As per Lavoie on RDS between the 2nd and 3rd period.

Really?

Captain Smurf 03-19-2013 08:22 PM

Why?

Dunno, between this game and resigning Cube... feels like 2012:(

Thank goodness it isn't.

cjbhab* 03-19-2013 08:22 PM

I've got no problem with Bouillon as the 7th D for 850K.

le_sean 03-19-2013 08:23 PM

Come on.

Yeah, as a 7th defenceman, but we know that will never happen as long as Therrien is coach.

MD thaivuN 03-19-2013 08:23 PM

urgh great, Bouillon is gonna be on that second PP unit for another year :help: :shakehead

Hannibal 03-19-2013 08:23 PM

Oh god!

elsubz 03-19-2013 08:24 PM

bleh...Is this really a priority? I don't get it.

MarkersMark* 03-19-2013 08:24 PM

As a #6-7 D I really don't mind.

He has to get off the frickin PP though ugh.

Roulin 03-19-2013 08:25 PM

I think we can safely assume Kaberle is gone. Probably Weber too. That leaves:

Gorges-Subban
Markov-Emelin
???-Diaz
Bouillon-???

...in this scenario, I have absolutely no problem re-signing the Cube. He's a reliable NHL dman, there aren't too many of those lying around.

Andrighetto Fabolous 03-19-2013 08:26 PM

He's been solid all year, probably wants to retire as a Hab. Pretty much guarantees Kaberle won't be back too.

BobbyFischer* 03-19-2013 08:26 PM

Why not? He's worth keeping around 1 more year.

It's sad he's so old though... I loved this guy when he was at his prime.

Modern day Rudy..

Viggo Mortensen 03-19-2013 08:26 PM

I dont get it, we have a good top 4-5, why not give the last 2 spots to kids like Tinordi?

Tinordi hasn't clearly outplayed Bouillon, and he's waiver ineligible. Granting spots to waiver ineligible kids based on potential takes away from a team's depth. Anyway, even if the team is healthy all year (they won't be), there's nothing stopping Tinordi from stealing Bouillon's job midseason.

Because you want the kids to be playing, not sitting out as a 7th d.

Watsatheo 03-19-2013 08:33 PM

We need more LD and less size.

yoyo999 03-19-2013 08:37 PM

IMO this so that he replaces Kaberle as the man in the pressbox next season, except he'll play more often than Kaberle does now. At MOST it's a 2-year extension.

DekeLikeYouMeanIt 03-19-2013 08:39 PM

Good. 1mil 1yr.

Tyson 03-19-2013 08:40 PM

Cubes is a great, inexpensive depth player. It is up to the kids to play their way into the line up.

A1 03-19-2013 08:48 PM

really should be leaving room for tinordi or beaulieu

ClasslessGuy 03-19-2013 09:06 PM

Subban
Markov
Gorges
Emelin
Diaz
Tinordi
Bouillon

Richiebottles 03-19-2013 09:11 PM

Good move, Worst that can happen is that we trade him for assets. Nothing wrong with that.

same here..good depth for injury and he is a seasoned vet that will help the youngsters..

Kobe Armstrong 03-19-2013 09:17 PM

Why couldn't this wait?

PyrettaBlaze 03-19-2013 09:18 PM

I have no problem with that. He's a good vet and has played surprisingly well this season. He also seems to be helping Tinordi a lot... Good guy to have around.

Analyzer* 03-19-2013 09:19 PM

As a 7th d ? Sure
