Gauthier & Scotty Bowman at MTL/BUF scouting those teams

9 teams are scouting the game at Bell Center tonight, including Blues GM Doug Armstrong. Pierre Gauthier and Scotty Bowman (CHI) are here.

who would be of interest for the Hawks?

Habs Scouts watched some Rockford Ice Hogs games in the past weeks too.

danishh 03-20-2013 01:57 AM

it's entirely possible that a bunch of teams were bringing their scouting staffs to toronto for the GM meetings today and with toronto not playing last night, having them working in montreal (the closest game to toronto as far as i can tell) made the most sense.

Beendair Donedat 03-20-2013 02:51 AM

The Colby Armstrong sweepstakes have finally started.

Bubba88 03-20-2013 06:37 AM

It was Scotty Bowman, not Stan Bowman. Stan is the GM. Scotty the legend.

There is something more than just "GM meeting" here with the Habs scouting the Hogs too.

ChuckyToGally 03-20-2013 07:02 AM

Now I understand why the Habs had such a bad game...

First, I can confirm, as rumored by the appearance of Scotty Bowman in Montreal last night, the Hawks are talking to the Canadiens. And it potentially could be a big deal. The Hawks, I'm told, were looking at two Hab forwards and one defenseman in particular. Although the likelihood of said deal happening now is maybe not that high, due to how well both teams are doing.

Buckets and Gloves 03-20-2013 07:12 AM

Wouldn't read too much into it.

People have to remember teams scout all. the. time.

This year more than ever due to a) shortened season and get a "book" on players and b) there are some teams you just won't see this year, and in order to get an idea of tendencies/weaknesses you have to watch.

Montreal is in 1st, it's Chicago's due dillegence to scout in case they meet in finals. This seems more likely scenario to me.

Scouts at a game doesn't always mean trade talks.

FWIW, a poster on our board (Woodhouse) posted tweets from several sources that stated Chicago has been at Buffalo's last three games, watching them in Buffalo (vs Ottawa), and then following them to Washington and Montreal.

Edit: Here were his posts.

Formulate your Chicago, Detroit and/or St. Louis proposals accordingly.

It also appears that St. Louis is following Buffalo around. Detroit may have fallen off the wagon in Washington.

Here's the link to the thread on our board if you want to see where Woodhouse posted this. Page 38, 657pm.

I'd say they look at Stafford and Ott.

Domino11 03-20-2013 08:20 AM

Thé ont player i se that nos attractive to Chicago it pleky and Eller .. As for dman I could see emelin !! If Chicago want to win the cup this year they will have to had a good 2 center ... If I was them I would rather go for rebeiro or Roy who will be rental !! Pleky would be a great add to Chicago wowww , the price will be high do

Habs 4 Life 03-20-2013 08:22 AM

Maybe Gauthier wants Kaberle again

Cullksinikers 03-20-2013 08:23 AM

The Hawks could be looking at Ott, Eller, and Moen if true.

Maybe the Canadiens just asked Scotty up to Mount Royal to see what guests he might want to have for his upcoming Legends/tribute night?.......The Canadiens haven't had one in a while and they're now extremely overdue....

as for the ghost he may have only been there to volunteer to receive a tribute night for himself sometime before a playoff game........:sarcasm:

lamp9post 03-20-2013 09:21 AM

I can't see the Hawks and Habs making a significant deal. If those teams are talking it would likely be something minor. Much more likely the Hawks are keeping an eye on the Sabres, who are likely to be sellers in the next 2 weeks.

Not available.

loadie 03-20-2013 10:22 AM

Its just advanced scouting for when the Hawks meet the Habs in the Stanley Cup final. :sarcasm:

Stats01 03-20-2013 10:27 AM

I could see the Hawks being interested in Ott, on the other hand I don't see MTL or CHI making a deal. Doesn't make sense when both clubs are playing well.

Mats86 03-20-2013 06:52 PM

Habs would give the Hawks Moen if they take Kaberle
