Ottawa Senators 2013-2014 lineup

I am just curious as to what people would like to see going into next season, personally I would like to see something like.

MM -Spezza - Semin (Some kind of elite scoring talent)
Lats - Turris - Alfie
Silf - Zbad- Neil
Greening - Z.Smith - Condra
Kassian/Regin/2Chainz

Karlsson - Methot
Gonchar - Cowen
Phillips - Wier
Gryba

Andersson - Lehner

Ghost in the Shell 03-20-2013 01:45 PM

I think Gonchar would have to take a paycut, but I'd be open to having him back. If Latendresse can stay healthy and keep producing then sure, he can come back as well.

Cujomi 03-20-2013 01:48 PM

Guillaume Latendresse - Jason Spezza - (Ryder, Semin, FA) or Stone/Condra
Milan Michalek - Kyle Turris - Daniel Alfredsson
Shane Prince - Mika Zibanejad - Jakob Silfverberg
Colin Greening - Zack Smith - Chris Neil

Jared Cowen - Erik Karlsson
Mark Methot - Cody Ceci/Eric Gryba/Sergei Gonchar
Chris Phillips - Patrick Wiercioch

Craig Anderson
Robin Lehner

mikey 03-20-2013 02:03 PM

and just who do we trade to pry Semin away from Carolina?

Not specific lines, but depth chart:

Left Wingers:
-Milan Michalek
-Jakob Silfverberg
-Colin Greening
-Kaspars Daugavins (RFA)
-Matt Kassian
-David Dziurzynski (RFA)

Centers:
-Jason Spezza
-Kyle Turris
-Mika Zibanejad
-Zack Smith
-Jim O'Brien

Right Wingers:
-Chris Neil
-Erik Condra (RFA)

Defensemen:
-Erik Karlsson
-Chris Phillips
-Marc Methot
-Jared Cowen
-Patrick Wiercioch (RFA)
-Eric Gryba

Goalies:
-Craig Anderson
-Robin Lehner
-Ben Bishop (RFA)

UFAS:
-Daniel Alfredsson
-Sergei Gonchar
-Guillaume Latendresse
-Peter Regin
-Mike Lundin
-Andre Benoit

Prospects pushing:
-Cody Ceci
-Stefan Noesen
-Matt puempel
-Shane Prince
-Mark Stone
-Stephane Da Costa (RFA)
-Mike Hoffman (RFA)
-Mark Borowiecki (RFA)
-Derek Grant
-Andre Petersson

Edit, fine, i'll do lines...I'll use no UFAS and think of them only as bonuses if they resign.

greening-Spezza-michalek
silfverberg-turris-Zibanejad
Neil-smith-stone
Hoffman-o'brien-Condra

Kassian spare. I see daugavins not being brought back, and dziurzynski in the minors. I could see 2 or 3 of hoffman,Puempel,Noesen,Da Costa, Grant, Prince, Petersson, stone making it. I put in stone and hoffman as they are probably at the top of the depth chart. If 3 of the young guys make it, then condra/o'brien can also rotate in and out and we can carry 14 forwards. There honestly may not be room to bring back latendresse. If him and alfredsson both return, then we've gotta make a trade to unload a couple guys. Maybe package for an upgrade

Karlsson-Methot
Wiercioch-Cowen
Phillips-Gryba

Borowiecki as spare. Maybe wiercioch can fill the offensive dman role meaning we don't need to bring back or replace gonchar.

Anderson
Lehner

I see bishop traded eventually.

We may be at the point where we don't have the space to sign any UFAs this summer? If we bring back gonchar, latendresse, and alfredsson, we have to make trades. I don't want us simply giving away prospect for nothing either. Maybe package hoffman/da costa for a veteran at the deadline to create space, i dunno.

Hale The Villain 03-20-2013 02:27 PM

Michalek - Spezza - Read
Smith - Turris - Alfredsson
Stalberg - Zibanejad - Silfverberg
Condra - O'Brien - Neil
Kassian

Methot - Karlsson
Cowen - Gonchar
Phillips - Wiercioch
Gryba/Borowiecki

Anderson
Lehner

Read for Greening + Bishop + pick
Stalberg for 2 years, 3M a season
Trade for a 1st line winger at the trade deadline (1st + top prospect)

Make a serious run at the cup

Rumcajs 03-20-2013 02:32 PM

Semin wont leave Carolina. He loves the no stress atmosphere and his teamates.

He will be resigned.

koreaboy 03-20-2013 02:41 PM

don't want any part of semin. not a player you can win with.

and i would be very surprised if latendresse was back here next year.

I see no reason for Semin to leave Carolina, he's doing great and seems to have great chemistry with guys like Eric Staal. I'd love to have him but he'll probably re-sign.

Emerica 03-20-2013 02:58 PM

No way 2Chainz makes the final roster.

He's ECHL level.

Such a ridiculous statement. :shakehead Can't believe this nonsense is still being spouted.

SensTopLine 03-20-2013 03:42 PM

As good as Latendresse is playing, I just don't see him returning. But if he does, you gotta think it'll be for one year. Condra & Daugavins will be RFA's as well. Think Regin will be done after this year.

Michalek - Spezza - Silfverberg
Latendresse - Turris - Alfredsson
Zibanejad - O'Brien - Condra
Greening - Smith - Neil

Don't know what will happen with Alfie until the end of the season. If by somehow and against all odds (much like the entire Senators' season) Ottawa can win the Cup (uh oh here comes the heat), it's almost safe to assume Alfie will retire. If Condra and Latendresse don't come back...

Michalek - Spezza - Turris
Silfverberg - Zibanejad - Alfredsson
Greening - O'Brien - Neil
Kassian - Smith - ??

I actually hope I'm wrong with these line combinations and somehow see Noesen and Hoffman creep in. Puempel needs an entire year in the AHL. Don't know where Hoffman sits in on the situation.

Methot - Karlsson
Cowen - Phillips
Wiercioch - ??

Really like Benoit and Gonchar is earning his way to one more year. We'll just have to see.

Clearly I have no idea what I'm doing as far as AHL line combos. I just have a feeling the Bingo's top 6 looks sick.

Do we really need to give up Greening, Bishop and a pick for Read? Depends on the pick, I suppose, and you may be right, but I don't see why a 1B goalie with starter potential, an RFA on an affordable contract, doesn't itself get you a second-line winger.

I said it a couple of days ago - I'd love to get Read out of Philly for Bishop: seems like each team addressing its need (although point taken that Philly's poor D is partly to blame).

Alf Silfversson 03-20-2013 04:49 PM

Guys I really like in our top 6:

Spezza
Michalek
Silfverberg
Turris
Alfredsson*

I'd like the 6th spot filled, ideally with a physical player who can play in the top 6. I just don't know who that could be. It could be Zibanejad by the time the new season rolls around.

In the bottom 6 I want players who can skate and gritty players. I want most of the PKing to come from these guys. Guys who will fit the bill:

Neil
Smith
Greening
Regin
O'brien

I think K-Daug goes. Condra could fill in somewhere. I think Kassian is a 13th forward. Lines:

Michalek - Spezza - Silfverberg
Zibanejad - Turris - Alfredsson
Greening - Smith - Neil
Regin - O'Brien - Condra
Kassian

Forward callups, in order:
Stone
Grant
Hoffman
DD
Prince

On D I see the following as being locks for spots next year.

Karlsson
Cowen
Methot
Phillips
Wiercioch

I'd like to add someone with offensive skill to play the second pairing with Cowen. Ian White, Gonchar, Visnovsky, Streit, Dan Boyle, etc. might fit the bill.

Methot - Karlsson
Cowen - offensive D
Wiercioch - Phillips/Gryba

Phillips might sit some games next year, IMO.

Callups on D, in order:

Borowiecki
Ceci
Claesson

Anderson
Lehner

The more I think it through management really needs to make a quantity for quality move.

richardson will probably make puempel play some bottom six minutes. stone would play the first line, grant would be the third line center, with kramer probably not playing/playing a fourth line role. is cole schneider's contract up this season? he's gotta be on the roster. hoffman would most likely slot in over prince.

forward call-ups would probably have hoffman over grant, and maybe even stone. stone got a (short) look this year, and i imagine it's hoffman's turn next. he's put some time in and is a legit prospect. the call-up order would probably be different depending on the player hurt or role the team needs the new guy to play.

Absolutely. Especially if Lats is the other one. Condra can handle the minutes with his world class stamina.

Kilts79 03-20-2013 06:12 PM

Silfverberg will be top line for sure. He'll earn that from here on out till seasons end.
