@NYIslanders: Poulin will start tonight for the #Isles. Carkner and Grabner in, as well.

Wonder if we'll see any line shuffling.

No GDT yet, but the team announced Poulin would start tonight and Carkner and Grabner are both back. Boulton and Martinek to sit.

Kinda surprised Martinek is sitting over Hickey. Guess the team thinks Hickey is a keeper.

I'm not too surprised, the kid has been pretty serviceable out there and playing well as of late.

Nice to see Grabs back in the lineup while Johnny and Moulson are slumping out there, he can definitely create some chances.

I like getting Carkner's toughness back making it much easier to scratch Boulton

Lol, it's kind of sad, but this was my first thought as well and the main reason why I was really happy to read the news that he is back.

Bones45 03-21-2013 10:07 AM

Ill be there tonight in my first appearance of the year.

Also wearing an old skool jersey & buying some shady tickets in the 100 section from a CL scalper (although, can you really call him a "scalper" if you are selling FAR below face value?)..

hopefully an entertaining game....

Where has EGods been?

CaptDenisPotvin 03-21-2013 10:09 AM

Extremely happy Grabs is back....I didn't know how slow the team actually was until he wasn't in the lineup

Islanderfan17 03-21-2013 10:11 AM

Great news that Grabner is back

seafoam 03-21-2013 10:14 AM

It's going to be a tough game. Looking forward to JT lighting the lamp tonight.

Ghost Of Palffy 03-21-2013 10:16 AM

Huge game. But almost every game here on out is. Glad to have Grabner back, wonder how Carkner will do in his return.

SLAPSHOT723 03-21-2013 10:29 AM

Thrilled that Grabner and Carkner are back! Wonder what the defense will be.

MacDonald-Hamonic
Hickey-Visnovsky
Streit-Carkner

?

Macch 03-21-2013 10:29 AM

Hopefully they break up the JT line. They're great together in the O-zone, but can't do damage offensively when they're stuck in their own zone.

VAIsles 03-21-2013 10:30 AM

Just to reiterate, Isles need to sweep the back2back or at least get three points or its lights out the party is over.

It would be nice to actually get a glimpse of what JT could do with different linemates at ES. I'd definitely put them back together on the PP, but just give us a glimpse Cappy and I'm not talking about for a couple of shifts and then back to the same lines.

I'm excited to see if Capuano actually changed up the 1st line like he said he would. I kind of doubt it though.

BTW, awesome avatar. Twin Peaks is one of my all time favs :)

This is one of the things I hate most about him: Whenever he makes some significant line change (I'm not talking about rotating the 3rd line players with those of the 4th line), he changes them so quickly back, that you can't make any conclusion at all. It's just like they are pure alibi-moves so that he can say: "Well I tried it, it didn't work".

edit: @Isle Junkie: As far as I know, he didn't say that he will change them this game. He said maybe, but also maybe only after one or two more games to see if they can bounce back before he separates them.

And keep the line together for the PP also. but this is what i worry about, I worry that if say a Moulson Nielsen Okposo 2nd line is on the ice & they get a PP, will Jack double shift Moulson or will he just put Martin or McDonald on the 1st unit PP. and let Moulson catch his breath. I dunno, just seems like something Jack would do.

Thanks! Such a good show.

I'd love to see that. Swap Bailey and Okposo with Moulson and Boyes.

Taveras - Bailey - Okposo
Neilsen - Boyes - Moulson

stranger34 03-21-2013 11:02 AM

One of the few teams the midget lineup plays well against... would have preferred hold Carks out one more day since I'm not sure back to backs for a groin injury is wise anyway.

I really want to keep Nielsen and Okposo together. Okposo is finally starting to play well.
Maybe give Martin or Bailey a look on Tavares rw?

Let's go Isles:handclap:

I like the idea of Martin playing with Tavares, but just like you wanting to keep Nielsen and Okposo together, I love the way Martin plays with Cizikas.

By the way, I think the Islanders will win tonight. They utilize their speed well against teams like Montreal. It's the big, physical teams, like Pit, Philly and Boston that are able to shut down the JT line, which usually translates into a loss.

StrongIslanders90 03-21-2013 11:10 AM

gotta get this game....Was there the other night and I cant belive im saying this but Okposo was the best player on the icce....we need that effort from him again....Our biggest problem is careless mistakes....

xECK29x 03-21-2013 11:22 AM

Excited for this game, I hope Poulin has a shutout against his favorite childhood team!

Brunomics 03-21-2013 11:22 AM

Poulin starting tonight

Basically, "breaking up" the first line will consist of Boyes being moved off for half a period. Then, if the Isles go down a couple of goals early, Cappy will revert back to putting Boyes back on the top line to "generate offense".
