Danny DeKeyser thread of magical mystery

Where will he sign? He is expected to begin fielding offers on Sunday (provided Western Michigan does not make the NCAA tournament, which they likely will not as they lost in the CCHA tournament). What team is the best fit? Which is closest to his heart? Which is closest to his pocketbook?

Let the speculation begin.

Alklha 03-21-2013 04:15 PM

He'll sign with the Red Wings.

No magical mystery... sorry. :)

Predsrule 03-21-2013 04:16 PM

TSN Hockey Central Insider Bob McKenzie says that Danny DeKeyser has a list of 3 teams Detroit, Tampa Bay and St Louis with Detroit of course being the prohibitive favorite to land there Native Son sure hope so.

Unless he has said this very recently I don't think this is right. Bob was saying on Insider Trading last week that Dekeyser will gain a lot of interest and Detroit, Tampa and St.Louis were three teams he mentioned very interested in him. He did not say Dekeyser has a list of 3 in any way and he said Detroit is the front runner to get him because of how many people they had sent to watch him but that was his only logical reason for them being the front runners.

No Bob had said 2 nights ago that there was a list of 3 teams that DeKeyser had narrowed It down to Detroit Tampa Bay and st Louis I'm sure he will still field offers to maybe drag It on a little bit but that's what he had said that DeKeyser had Detroit Tampa Bay and St Louis on his list of where he would want to go.

I tought it was known fact that he was signing with Detroit?

InjuredChoker 03-21-2013 05:33 PM

Det seems to be front runner.

Detroit is he's favorite team, from Michigan and been on Wings prospect camp.

He's played under Jeff Blashill, Wings minor affiliate head coach.

He's played as a kid with Jim Nill's son. Nill is Wings assistant GM.

He'll look so great on winged wheel next to Suter.

DeKeyser was going to sign with Detroit last year, But with the lockout and every thing he decided to go back to Western Michigan for another year. I saw that Ken Holland and Jim Nil told him to wait another year because of the Impending lockout.

Really? We could really use him right now next to Pietro. He could walk in and be a #2 for the next 10 years. Btw. Really hate to see you guys leaving our division. Yzerman and Lidstrom were just a joy to watch all those years. Two of my all time favorites. Awesome rivalry!!

From my understanding, DeKeyser and the Nills are very close. They're so close that Jim Nill (Wings assistant GM) had to come out and say that he'd be fine with Danny signing somewhere else if it's in his best interest.

Thanks Yeah what team out there could'nt use DeKeyser, And I know It will be nice for the team to go to the East just because there will be less travel to the West Coast now. And I will as a Wings fan miss the rivalries of Chicago and other Western teams.

Jim Nill was a Blues draftee that played his rookie year there, and Trevor was drafted by St. Louis. I see us a 1,000 to 1 odds, if that....

Would love to see the Oilers land him or Sustr, but I think they shot their wad on college FAs in the summer, haha.

Still, a man can dream.

Sustr just landed In Tampa Bay on a 2 year Entry level deal, Nice one for the Bolts and they cant rule out possibly getting DeKeyser as well though I hope he goes to Detroit.

Last week Bobby Mac said it's pretty likely that he signs with Detroit.

I think so to, With Sustr going to Tampa Bay I think It's pretty much a gimmee that DeKeyser stays home and signs with the Wings. Sure hope so any ways.

Curious to see if that puts TB out of the DeKeyser sweepstakes. I'm sure it looks a little less appealing when you know that most organizations won't run two rookie d-men at the NHL level immediately.

I'm happy for TB, though. I'm too much of an Yzerman fan to root against them.

Same here especially being a former Detroiter now living in the Tampa Bay Area I'm happy for now that Steve Yzerman Is the General Manager here, And I'm not sure yet the deal on DeKeyser with Yzerman being a former Red Wing I could still see him going after DeKeyser you can never have enough Dman within your organization so we shall see though I still see DeKeyser signing with Detroit.
