Fanbases that get along well/support the other team?

I was wondering if there are such "alliances" or just good terms amongst fan bases in the NHL. It is a common thing in soccer/football.

Do any fanbase "friendships" come to mind?

Vancouver's seems to be generally well-liked and supported. :naughty:

Vancouver and the Habs typically support the Bruins. They are nice and never biased, too.

18Hossa 03-23-2013 06:36 PM

Senapreds a few years ago.

I hope that's sarcasm lol. Maybe everyone outside of B.C. supports the Bruins.

none that come to mind. i think for most fanbasis the emotions towards other teams are either hatred or indifference.

Preds/Devils

Islanders and Devils both share their hate towards the Rangers. It's pretty cool, actually.

Sorry we're so hard on you guys..

Vancouver and Chicago I find fascinating. These two teams (and fanbases) absolutely hate each other, but there's an interesting measure of respect that's developed over the years.

It's been one of the NHL's premier rivalry for the last few years, they've gone to absolute war with each other and have both experienced the highest of highs and lowest of lows at the hands of the other team. They're reluctant to admit it, but these teams bring out the best in the each other and the game of hockey.

To clarify, not too many of these exist within the same league or a country, but friendships with fan groups in other countries are quite common.

This is all pretty new, but Jets fans get along well with Minnesota Wild fans. Until next year, I suppose.

ChocolateLeclaire 03-23-2013 06:50 PM

Ottawa-Boston. Both teams have the same mortal enemies in the Leafs and Sens. Plus the connections of former management (Chiarelli - brother of city councilman), and well-liked former players (Chara and Kelly).

PaperRockChamp 03-23-2013 06:50 PM

Bos / Wpg immediately came to mind.

I enjoy supporting teams that suck, and once they're good I hate them.

I love the Oilers, Flames, and Avalanche at the moment.

:)

Toydarian 03-23-2013 06:51 PM

My experience with other teams fanbases is mostly from HF, so no.

Mafoofoo 03-23-2013 06:51 PM

Sharks and Kings fans but after the cup win not so much.

This. I was thrilled to see Winnipeg get the Jets back (sorry Thrashers fans) and have cheered them on ever since. Well until next season those games will be awesome I can't wait! I want the jets to win the Southeast this year so they can raise the Southeast division championship banner in the rafters!

I always thought Vancouver and Montreal got along for their mutual hatred of the Bruins and their mutual love of rioting ;)

Homegrown Kings 03-23-2013 06:53 PM

Flyers and Kings?

Or maybe it's just me.

wiredmaverick 03-23-2013 06:53 PM

This isn't exactly what you're talking about, but I've found that Vancouver fans get along pretty well with Sharks fans and Sabres fans on hfboards. It's probably because we all share the same frustrations.

Also most of the Canucks fans that I know root for Tampa Bay or the Habs as a secondary team.

Tanner Glass 03-23-2013 06:54 PM

Flyers and Rangers fans cheer for each other when playing Pittsburgh

kypredsfan 03-23-2013 06:56 PM

Any time I've argued with a Blues or Blackhawks fan someone can throw out "atleast we all hate the wings", and everyone gets along again.

At GM place a couple of years ago as a visiting fan, I had a beer tossed at me and it hit my buddy in the head. I figured they were just being friendly by offering free booze. :)

 I have nothing against Sharks fans. It's a real shame where they are in the playoffs though.

Nah, when the Flyers play Pittsburgh, I root for some type of carbon monoxide leak to consume the arena.

to answer the OP, Devils and Isles. They share in the misery of being 2nd class citizens in this area.

Machinehead 03-23-2013 06:58 PM

Since the Nash trade we're supposed to have this friendship with Columbus, but every time we see each other there's some sort of misunderstanding and a big fight breaks out
