Is it typical that a team that doesn't make its conference championship game is the #1 overall seed?

MiamiScreamingEagles 03-24-2013 08:30 PM

^ This writer does an annual analysis -- pairings and brackets -- and it is informative:

With only 5 conferences now, probably not since Union needed to win the conference championship to get in.

QU's goalie is Eric Hartzell who was at Flyers prospect camp last summer.

GoneFullHolmgren must have a smirk since Denver gets to come across the country to play in UNH's rink against UNH.

Minnesota lost it's as well. As did Miami and BC, so anyone that could have threatened for the #1 spot was also gone. It was a big year for upsets in the Conference Tourneys.

Tough draw for UMass Lowell. Wisconsin is arguably the hottest team in the country. And if they get past them, they may have to then play UNH in UNH's own barn. Quinnipiac vs BC could be an epic match going to into Frozen Four (and very well could have Hobey Baker Implications).

GoneFullHextall 03-24-2013 09:25 PM

Wow that is a brutal bracket in Manchester.

UNH went 3-0 against UML this season. They also defeated Denver in Denver back in November.

Not that that means anything. Just pointing that out.

Pulling for Union and North Dakota!

I was hoping North Dakota would be sent to Manchester so UNH can give em another ball kicker of a loss.

I will be pulling for Union if UNH gets eliminated.

I dont think Denver will be making it out of Manchester.
Actually I dont think they are winning that first game:D

LegionOfDoom91 03-24-2013 11:34 PM

I usually only watch Notre Dame's games and the Frozen Four games. I'm definitely going to check out Ghost and Union this year though.

MiamiScreamingEagles 03-29-2013 03:52 PM

^ The number one choice on vbookie: Minnesota.

I checked the websites of both colleges, too, but to no avail. Perhaps ESPN has some sort of exclusive property but that would be counterintuitive.

Bernie Parent 1974 03-29-2013 04:29 PM

ive been checking while watching UML - WIS on internet, too

2-0 UML

Clyde Donovan 03-29-2013 04:41 PM

I've watched a handful of UMass-Lowell games this season and am always impressed by how solid they look.

I saw the clock when it was scored. 7 seconds is conservative. At least 2 seconds ticked off when the goal was scored

MiamiScreamingEagles 03-29-2013 04:43 PM

The head coach of Wisconsin was a Flyers' assistant coach under Holmgren.

I checked Twitter and a college site and the time ranged from 6 to 9 with each number in between, too.
