Watching his game, he's a shadow of his former self. BUT young enough to turn it back around

oilergc16 03-25-2013 11:42 AM

What would it realistically cost to get him

DBU 03-25-2013 11:43 AM

Myers + 1st for Babchuk. Book it.

hockeyarena 03-25-2013 11:44 AM

From a Jets perspective:
Burmistrov and a 3rd for Myers. Then move Postma and a 2nd at deadline for a 2nd line scorer...stranger things have happened.

habs03 03-25-2013 11:44 AM

Since the Sabres paid him a 12M signing bonus last summer during the lockout, if your a team that only cares about actually dollars instead of cap hits, his contract isn't that bad.

Don't watch the Sabres enough to talk about him in detail, but he hasn't been the great in his own end, but I guess that normal for a young d-men, so it could improve.

One major issue I see, specially when he plays the Habs, is that he seems very soft, 5'7 Desharnais, and 5'9 Gallagher keep betting him in puck battles along the boards. I know it sometimes tough to handle those little guys, but still.

Vankiller Whale 03-25-2013 11:46 AM

Phaneuf 2.0

Trading him would be a mistake.

That is a joke right?

Of course not.

Hotlanta 03-25-2013 11:49 AM

Would love him in Toronto, paired with Phaneuf he wouldn't have to be tough, just good positionally, but I do not see Buffalo trading him in the division, let alone the conference unless it is a huge overpayment.

Warden of the North 03-25-2013 11:51 AM

Philly should be all over this.

veedubn1 03-25-2013 11:52 AM

Classic "change of scenery" trade needed for the youngster.

I'd love to have him on Toronto playing beside Dion.

More than you want to give up

gabeliscious 03-25-2013 11:52 AM

im sure there is a team that would take a flyer on him. considering contract and what buffalo would likely want i dont see him moving any time soon.

Considering how bad he's been playing, I think the opposite would be true.

Kschey 03-25-2013 11:54 AM

Avs should really take a very close look at this, IF true.

Finlandia WOAT 03-25-2013 11:54 AM

Myers for Frattin and a 2nd?

Well he has actually played quite well the last month+

He has about 15 brutal games to start.

Jack de la Hoya 03-25-2013 11:55 AM

Couturier + Mezsaros (+ pick?) for Myers + L. Adam.

*No idea. Not a Sabres fan, so I'm not sure what the lines would actually look like, nor do I know where someone like Grigorenko would fit in if he made the team.

Dark Knight 03-25-2013 11:56 AM

Toronto fans wont like it but I'll offer a 1st for him.

He's that big RH shot D-man we need. At 23 he can still pick his game up.

Brutal

Everyone wants Myers because they know what he can/will become, but everyone on here just lowballs.

It's pretty much a given that whenever anyone brings up Babchuk in a trade thread, the :sarcasm: is implied lol.

But okay, I'll be serious. I don't watch Myers much (or at all really) but all I hear about is how bad he's been. That said, he's still young so there's plenty of time to turn it around. If the Sabres believe that, they'll a) expect a lot in exchange for him, and b) send him to another division (regarding next year's realignment).

I don't know what his price would be though.

55 03-25-2013 11:56 AM

The Sabres will probably only trade him for another struggling young player with high potential. They won't get full value based upon Myers's potential because he has struggled so badly the last couple of years. But they would be dumb to trade him when his value is at its lowest.

Can anybody think of any candidates (struggling young players with big upside)?

I think Buffalo has a greater need for defensemen than young centres.

Zack Kassian?:sarcasm:

madmike77 03-25-2013 11:57 AM

The issue with Myers is the same issue Phaneuf had - he has a big long-term contract and isn't playing up to it.

His cap hit is 5.5 per year until 2018-19.

I can't really see too many takers.
