The Rumours and Speculation Thread Part 2 (Post #693: Rumor -- Clowe to the Flyers)

Continue.

But yeah, if Murray got 2 2nds, Mez could pull a 1st off.

WeekendAtBernies 03-25-2013 12:42 PM

I think it's time we talk about trading Timonen, assuming he waives his NTC. With the prices currently being paid, a 1st + blue chip D prospect wouldn't be out of the question.

Yeah we'd be horrible at puck moving next year, but we're not winning a cup next year anyway.

sa cyred 03-25-2013 12:46 PM

So teams like Dallas and SJS who are 8th and 9th in the west are selling (ish). Yet we who are 13th in the east dont know what to do haha.

It is a bit different. They are selling off UFAs who would not have been on their teams next year anyway.

The only guy we have that fits into that category (and carries any sort of value) is Fedotenko, and I'm sure he will be moved if there is an offer.

Gagne is trickier, because I think he can and will be re-signed.

That probably has to do with the man signing the cheques. Pulling the chute isn't as straightforward.

Read the second second was if Murray re-signs

I think it becomes a 3rd if he doesn't re-sign, but it doesn't go away.

Eh, this is true, but wouldnt they keep players if they think they can make a run? Why get weaker if you have a chance for playoffs?

Oh absolutely think Snider is the main one right now still thinking we make playoffs. They make some GOOD money during playoff time.

Still a pretty good haul for Murray regardless. Someone posted on the trade and rumors board that Murray has some of the worst advanced stats for Defensemen this year.

Because GMS build for the future as well as the present.

In Dallas's case, I don't believe that they expect to make the playoffs.

In San Jose's, Murray has struggled, and moving him opens up ice time for Demers and Braun while picking up future assets.

SolidSnakeUS 03-25-2013 12:54 PM

They may make good money in the playoffs, but I think Snider might be trying to overreach here. If the Rags do beat the Flyers, I hope that rings a bell in Snider's head that it would be best for the Flyers to look to the future than to win this year.

Eh, fair point. Dont see how Dallas thinks they wont make it when they are 8th and ahead of teams right around them.

Oh well different GMs have different looks.

DrinkFightFlyers 03-25-2013 12:57 PM

Is the deadline April 1 or April 3?

GoneFullHextall 03-25-2013 01:00 PM

April 3rd. The deadline is 9 days away. Way to early to speculate that Snider is telling Holmgren not to sell.

LegionOfDoom91 03-25-2013 01:02 PM

Can someone kidnap Snider until after April 3rd?

duffy9748 03-25-2013 01:03 PM

This Briere concussion really put a damper on my day.

Sabotage!

Psuhockey 03-25-2013 01:08 PM

And Briere is officially off the market and the 1st buyout.

SolidSnakeUS 03-25-2013 01:08 PM

Briere really likes to **** things up for us doesn't he. Maybe this will give him a reason though to accept a buy out in the off-season so he doesn't regress from the concussion and stay with his kids before it gets any worse?

BillDineen 03-25-2013 01:09 PM

I think he read the (hopeful) rumors and suddenly got a headache ....

He has no say in the buyout. He is a goner. Worst part now is that they Flyers will have only one for two possible players: Bryz or Pronger if his is ever cleared to play.

Can't buy him out if he is still injured.
