AV's dream players. all defensive, the ideal being a 0-0 tie going into the shootout.

Was wondering if that was a possibility. He lives in Kelowna in the offseason. Wouldn't be surprised if he wants to stay in Canada as well, as he's been so revered in a hockey market.

Contender. Check
Get to play with 2 elite playmakers. Check.
Close to home. Check

The fit seems like a good one.

David71 03-25-2013 10:33 PM

gillis stands pat. but just adds a couple of depth players. move ala hodgson/kassian that nobody in the tsn/whatver mongols out there knows.

I too would like to see a source on this.

I don't buy it. He said he "thinks".

I don't think so.

Csnucks and their fans have been roasted 200+ times.

would only take iginla if it is way less than what he is making right now. considering his agent is a supreme d-bag i doubt this would be the case

He has also earned quite a bit of money over the course of his career so I don't see him being particularly concerned with whether he's securing a big payday or not. Could see him taking a reasonable amount of money on a shorter term just to get a chance at the Cup in a Canadian city.

C'mon man. Don't do this. You're setting yourself up for disappointment

I'm not going to get my hopes up but there are reasons why it could be a good match.

Don't you think his lack of foot speed could be a major issue? I'd take him for free obviously but he's going to command a lot of money

Bobby Lou 03-25-2013 11:13 PM

Free agency has always been our best shot at Iginla I think. Depends on a lot of factors though.

As long as the term is short I'd be willing to pay him a lot.

I don't see it happening though. You have to think a team like PIT would outbid us.

I don't think it'll be about the money, it will be about what team he wants to go to

jammyrft 03-25-2013 11:24 PM

The only reason I don't think Van will pull off a big trade is because we don't have the prospects or depth to persuade other teams to part with their stars.

What little we do have in our farm I don't thnk we should be trading away for some UFA'S rentals, making it hard to do a deal.

Yeah, Pittsburgh couldn't get Hamhuis signed. Iginla is another Western Canadian that might want to stay closer to home. The Kings are who I would worry about.

If Iginla wants a cup, he knows he would have a good shot at it in Vancouver. The goaltending, top 5 defensemen, the Sedins, Kesler and Burrows are all going to be around the next few years - throw a 30-40 goalscoring RW and it's a great mix.
