Precursor to a trade?

Not exactly high impact guys, doubt it means anything other than adding some depth.

smithformeragent 03-26-2013 10:47 AM

Cheap replacement for Ference I hope

11MilesPerJohan 03-26-2013 10:49 AM

Could make his contract more palatable for a move, or it could be bye bye Andy Ference after this year, no?

Saxon Eric 03-26-2013 10:50 AM

Is that the going rate for 1 good game?

Morris Wanchuk 03-26-2013 10:50 AM

Must be getting close to the contract limit, no?

Mike Yeos Eyebrows 03-26-2013 10:50 AM

The Bruins don't usually put financial terms of contracts in official press releases.

Actp 03-26-2013 10:50 AM

What?! One decent game and they extend him? And yes, this does mean he is Ference's possible replacement or someone's....Bad move Chia Very bad....I am dissapointed.

TP 03-26-2013 10:51 AM

The one way part of the deal is most concerning. Why?

Twisted Tales 03-26-2013 10:53 AM

Likely to be 7th D next season. I doubt he makes the top 6 in 2013-14 unless there's an injury

smithformeragent 03-26-2013 10:53 AM

I'd feel ok about

Chara
Seidenberg
Hamilton
McQuaid
Bartkowski
Johnson
Krug

next year. Not great, but ok. Gives them some more wiggle room with some of the impending decisions with the forward group.

It means either the Bruins, the Flames, or both feel he's NHL ready.

Cause he's getting traded ...

WBC8 03-26-2013 10:53 AM

That's a lot of money for a guy who may very well stay in Providence all season...added to Bourque and it's what 1 mil?

We're at 50, but Subban and Koko slide, so 48.

 Sign #7 d-man for most likely league min ... CHIARELLIS WHAT R U DOING?!!

Somehow I think I'll take B's management team assessment of his development over someone whose seen him play 2 games.

It could be hard moving an AHL defenseman signed to a one-way contract unless it's to the Isles.

Exactly he's the 2nd tier prospect they would be getting ... now who's the 1st tier ? Subban or Koko

11MilesPerJohan 03-26-2013 10:57 AM

He could be watching from the ninth floor on a lot of nights as well, so I don't necessarily think this means he is a starter next year, though he will get the opportunity.

Let's just face facts, the Bruins are going to be tight against the cap next year, and there are going to be some young guys on this team that are borderline NHL players (Bourque, Bartkowski), but they will be making peanuts. I think the Bruins are preparing for the reality that they will have some spots to fill, and they will need to be filled with low-salary guys. Whichever prospects don't get dealt this year will also have a chance to make the club as well.

i'm thinking he's the B prospect included in the trade

TP 03-26-2013 10:58 AM

Could Ference be heading back to Calgary? Or Tampa? and they need him to step in?

bruinsfan46 03-26-2013 10:59 AM

It's a $650k deal, people are worried about saving a couple hundred grand of someone else's money.

If the Bruins are going all in for Iginla, they aren't moving Ference. He's an important locker room guy, and has familiarity with Iginla.
