Since he played in the KHL after the start of the NHL season, doesn't he have to clear waivers? Or am I remembering that rule incorrectly?

I'm pretty sure that only applies to teams signing other teams' RFAs in Europe. If someone other than GMDP signed Radulov he'd have to clear waivers.

He was on the Rangers reserve list, so no.

goal1228 03-28-2013 12:45 PM

I think a fellow on this board named Bernmeister called this a week ago. Kudo's

Believe since he was a Rangers RFA (thus, their property), I don't think he does.

Even though that is embarrassing, I'd still pay to see that :)

But seriously Rangers, time to fire Torts.

Probably mentioned in a trade proposal for Taylor Hall. ;)

It's been reported that the Rangers were talking to his agent about bringing him back ever since his KHL season ended, which was like a month ago.

Zuccarello is a really skilled dude, he's just tiny and can't play the boards well. He looked good last year near the end of the year until he broke his hand. The Rangers wanted to bring him back but didn't offer him a whole lot, so he went to the KHL.

I wouldn't call it a desperation move, but they do need to increase their depth and maybe he gives them a bump in offensive productivity, especially if he's given a lot of power play time

uncleben85 03-28-2013 01:37 PM

Normally RFAs cant sign after December.

did they just toss the RFA deadline out the window for the shortened season?

Tawnos 03-28-2013 01:52 PM

Yeah there was no RFA deadline this year. Also, this possibility has been discussed since the lockout
ended.

quat 03-28-2013 01:56 PM

It must be asked: Can he block shots? :sarcasm:
