Trade Rumors 2013 Part IV

NHL radio said that the Kings have 2 scouts at Buf/Fla tonight, including Hextall.

Do you think Dean would take a gamble on Tyler Myers?

High risk/reward type play, but interesting.

Lots of players available in that game, though..

Live in the Now 03-28-2013 05:52 PM

Myers is paid way too much and we would have to pay a salaried top six player to get him. No thanks.

Mike Richards has 2 ES goals in 32 games this season and is a team worst -9
Dustin Penner has 2 goals all year and now looks to be back in the dog house.
Tyler Toffoli is 20 years old with zero playoff games.

The Stoll line has been excellent the past about 12 games or so, and has shouldered some of the scoring load, but the Kings will need consistent production from the 2nd line to make a deep playoff run.

There is atleast one re-enforcement coming to the back end in Greene, nothing coming for the forwards.

I would like a trade for Tanguay or Jagr. Jagr could slot in on the first line, which would push a player down. Tanguay is a good 2nd liner and should things develop to our liking, would be able to play well on the 3rd line for a few years.

That's a relief. Whew.

I didn't buy the rumor we'd give up Toffoli for him or Stafford, but he's slowed down a bit, and they'd probably still want a lot for a rental.

Stafford for King and a 3rd :dunno:

I believe this is the second time this week the Kings have had a scout at the Florida game. We may be looking at the wrong team of those two (BUF/FLA).

Another good addition would be Lubo or Streit from NYI. Could do a lot worse than those two.

Knight of the Realm 03-28-2013 06:01 PM

I wonder if Vanek/Pominville may be a targets for LA.

IF Buf ate some money could LA swing Vanek?

Talk about a guy who still has a good 4-5 years and would be that elusive LW we never seem to have.

Something like Bernier + Forbort + 2014 1st + Penner(salary)?

That's the thing. In a year, the cap likely won't matter. If the cap keeps going up, and assuming Brown and Voynov don't get insane contracts, we'll be fine after next season. Arguably more than fine it goes up like it was pre-lockout part II. The real trick is next season, when we'll be very tight, made even more tight by the great play of Voynov which will mean he'll get a very nice raise.

And if we haven't dealt Bernier by the NHL draft and he gets an RFA offer, look out. Could get ugly.

IMO I can say bernier will be dealt at the draft and maybe even Williams for someone like versteeg or something similar but as far as Toffoli and Pearson go, there ready both physically and mentality... With pearsons all around play and forechecking he would be an asset with mike and Jeff

Herby 03-28-2013 06:04 PM

I think we say bye bye to Voynov if the Kings were to make a play for Vanek. Buffalo is not trading him for a struggling prospect, a goalie and a 1st. They will want an impact young player coming back.
I think I would pass, the cost is to high.

He'd be a great add. He's the only defenseman I'd take. Maybe Pominville

I was wondering if Lombardi might deal Voynov, He might be a bit concerned that he'll have to pay him similar to OEL and may feel he has more value on his current contract. I hope not

(he's already had Doughty hold out)

Would do it if they ate some salary and the was conditional on vanek signing a extension. The guy would be an absolute beast on this team

That would be like trading away his goodwill. Plus, the players you'd have to get in return for him would eventually hit a 4 million pay mark, so there's no use in that.

I guess it depends who the trade is for. If Lombardi gets a top six young Lwinger and feels that we have enough offensive Dmen he may feel that Voynov is the expendable one (especially if he is due a big pay day) Like I said I hope not

Jordan and.....

Could be?

For the Kings, I am looking more at another Flame player. Alex Tanguay. Can play LW, probably wouldn't cost a ton, signed through next year at a reasonable hit.

I'd luv to bring back Cammy ... just for the ***** & giggles and to see Kings17's Head Explode  :sarcasm: and I'm sure Herby wouldn't mind seeing that either. ;)

Seriously though, we can't afford him anyways ... and I don't see Tanguay as being someone Lombardi would pick up, nor do I think he'd perform well with the style of game the Kings play.
I'd look elsewhere ...

====

As for Voynov's next deal ... I get that many of you think OEL has screwed the potential contract negotiation's, at $5.5 Mil one might question what the hell were the Coyote's thinking? But it's also what a SIX YEAR deal ? IMO OEL is more Phoenix's "Drew Doughty" than he's their Voynov, if that makes sense. OEL will be the FACE of the Coyote's defense for the next 6+ years, so it's not so bad that they OVER PAID him. This doesn't mean it sets the bar for VOYNOV, I don't see the circumstances as being equal.

I think DEAN being DEAN, he will use P.K. Subban as the benchmark for a shorter term (2-3 yr) deal, and counter with something in the $2.75 - $3.25 Mil range and that's a FAIR deal for Voynov's 2nd Contract ... Jack Johnson's was a lot LESS than this by comparison for what it's worth. I think Dean will work it out, either a workable short term deal to see how Voynov continues to progress, or a longer term deal with a workable cap hit going forward, I ain't worried. YET :)

Too true...

Leopold is a player we are considering. Jordan and Leopold. I know it was lame.

Regehr threw a little bit of a tantrum is a rumor going around after being asked about going to the west coast (L.A.). We are looking at Regehr and Leopold but there could be more to it then that. I am not certain what but that is what I heard this afternoon.

I do hate this time of year, second only to Bummer (summer).

Shouldn't DL be making a deal to AQUIRE a defenseman.....rather than trade one away? Sometimes I feel like I'm in the a twilight Zone reading this board.

Thought it was also proposed that Stafford might be involved in rumors to LA.

Sounds like he may need a change of scenery but he is overpaid.

Leopold isn't anything special but if he can be had on the cheap he could provide some insurance on the back end.

Meh

I will be highly surprised if Stafford came to us alone. Too much drama. I agree about Leo. I still don't see us doing anything unless it was a perfect situation. I am surprised by RR's attitude but he could be having an off day.

Oh how awful, perhaps you should go read the Calgary board instead, That might make for better reading

SFKingshomer 03-28-2013 08:08 PM

Stafford's work ethic makes Penner look like Lappy. No thank you!
