In your opinion, Ryane Clowe will fetch...

Seeing what the Pens gave up for Morrow and Murray, I'm curious to know what people think Ryane Clowe will fetch the Sharks in a trade at the deadline.

Keeping in mind that year in, year out, people act shocked and surprised by what teams pay for pending UFAs at the trade deadline, isn't it time for people to start realizing that this is the norm now, and they should stop acting surprised?

Clowe is having a rough year, that's for sure, but in my humble opinion, he's one of the top pending UFAs in this year's trade deadline market.

So what do YOU think the Sharks will get for him, assuming they trade him?

Habsterix* 03-25-2013 04:26 PM

I guess I should have posted what I thought he could fetch. :D

I'm thinking that a team will be willing to part with a first round pick (late for a contender) and a good prospect not too far removed from making the NHL.

2nd round pick + a middle of the road prospect. That or a 2nd and a 3rd.

If I was SJ I'd see if I could get a 1st+ for Clowe + Demers/Braun

JayP812 03-25-2013 04:26 PM

I'm hoping for a 1st rounder.

HawkinMI 03-25-2013 04:27 PM

It's unfortunate for the Sharks he's so snakebitten in a contract year. His value is so much lower than it could be right now.

I'd say a low 1st maybe? Murray got two low 2nds, maybe a 1st and 3rd for Clowe?

Son Oncle Jerry 03-25-2013 04:28 PM

Kokhlachev and a 2nd. Can pretty much see it coming.

RangerBoy 03-25-2013 04:28 PM

When is Clowe going to be healthy? He was supposed to return tonight from the shoulder injury but is sitting out again tonight.

mwalluk 03-25-2013 04:30 PM

Heard Pens contacted About CLowe, after hearing price moved on to Murray. So I gotta think a lot.

TheBleedingEdge 03-25-2013 04:32 PM

He may be playing through an injury which wont help the cause for a strong return. It would probably be hard to part with a 1st rounder if he isnt as productive this year.

That being said, depending on the team (assuming its a playoff rental of course) late 2nd and prospect or late 2nd, late 3rd is fair.

bobbyflex 03-25-2013 04:34 PM

he'll get a 1st

That's what Murray was worth, Clowe is worth more, easily.

Agreed.

I'd say prospect and a pick. The type of prospect will likely determine how high that pick falls in the draft. I think the value is Iginla > Morrow > Clowe, but that might just be me.

There's no way in hell the Bruins give up Koko for Clowe. None.

Rumour has it that's exactly what they offered for Morrow.

Just because Clowe and Kokhlachev have the same amount of NHL goals this season doesn't mean they are equal in value.

SoulAssassin 03-25-2013 04:39 PM

I think the Penguins have set the bar high. Just because they are willing to pay what most HFers and fans feel is an "abundance" for guys like Morrow and Murray, doesnt mean other teams will be willing to do so for the likes of similar players such as Clowe. If anything, I can see it causing a problem as teams may view their players as better and not accept less, but not be offered more.

PensBandwagonerNo272 03-25-2013 04:40 PM

I could see a 1st. More likely a 2nd and a promising/fairly notable prospect. The Sharks farm is pretty weak.

Paralyzer008 03-25-2013 04:40 PM

A stick? Because he's in the doghouse. If he becomes healthy, two 2nd rounders + prospect or a first rounder probably.

Wheatley 03-25-2013 04:40 PM

A bag of pucks. A big one though, and they're allowed to keep the bag if they want.

PearJuice* 03-25-2013 04:42 PM

He's big, but he is also very dumb, and injury prone. He will be worth next to nothing.

Clowe isn't worth as much as Morrow.

medhatcanuck 03-25-2013 04:44 PM

With the absurd prices Shero has paid, it's hard to see too many trades happening that aren't straight up hockey trades. And with Sjs good on d and goal it's hard to see Clowe getting traded for players either.

one2gamble 03-25-2013 04:44 PM

late first, middle tier prospect
