The Yankees 5-9 Hitters

Projected opening day lineup

5. Ben Francisco
6. Vernon Wells
7. Eduardo Nunez
8. Jayson Nix
9. Chris Stewart

Can't recall the Yankees ever having this many nobodies in their lineup! I know they have injuries...but still.

Is there any hope for the Yanks this season? CC will have to be lights out, same with Kuroda.

Depends how old you are...

IU Hawks fan 03-30-2013 11:50 PM

They're gonna be sooooo bad.

Which means they'll probably fluke their way to a Wild Card spot, win the coin flip game due to a horrible call, and then breeze through to another world title.

Machinehead 03-31-2013 01:01 AM

Gonna look more like this.

Gardner
Ichiro
Cano
Youkilis
Hafner
Overbay
Wells
Nunez
Cervelli

Not quite as bad as you're making it seem. Nix and Francisco will still start off on the bench. And if Francisco does see time, he likely won't sniff the 5 hole.

You just hope Hafner and Wells start hot. But there's plenty of hope for the Yankees this year. By mid-May it looks like this:

Ichiro
Jeter
Cano
Teixeira
Youkilis
Granderson
Hafner
Cervelli
Gardner

That's a quality lineup. So they might not score the most runs. They damn sure ain't gonna score the least either.

#Marlins will limit Jose Fernandez to 150-170 innings. Beinfest expects him to log them all in majors.

The guy has never even pitched above A ball.

SwordsgoneWild 03-31-2013 10:05 AM

So whats the over/under on my 'Stros losing a hundred games this season:laugh::

We win tonight though, 5-2. Bring it Ranger fans:yo:

P.S- Happy Easter folks.

I'm rooting for the Astros tonight. The Rangers I don't think are going to blow them out. Just have this feeling the game will be a lot closer than it should be, and even though Houston will probably have a bad year, they still have pride.

Big Poppa Puck 03-31-2013 11:33 AM

Astros might be worse than the 03 Tigers.

Yea sure it is if everyone comes back healthy and you don't have more injury problems.

And this is because they placed 2/5 of thier rotation on the DL with "mild shoulder inflammation" (Alvarez & Eovaldi)

Logan Morrison also moved to 60 day DL. Yeah, gonna be a fun year!

Starsfan24 03-31-2013 11:50 AM

Rangers open tonight, Cubs open tomorrow. This is the Cubs year :yo: :sarcasm:

sayheykid 03-31-2013 12:33 PM

As far as I am concerned it isn't opening day until the Reds throw their first pitch. I hate this opening night crap.

Kid is ****ing awesome though. I'll give him that.

Static 03-31-2013 02:22 PM

I know Houston moved leagues and there's the whole Texas angle, but this opening night game sucks. It would be akin to lakers clippers when the clips were awful.

G F O P 03-31-2013 02:54 PM

Why aren't the World Champions on Sunday Night Baseball

This is a mediocre matchup but I will be doing the play by play as usual!

This is one thing Baseball gets wrong that all the other sports get right. The Champions of the last year should get National TV billing on Opening Night. Yeah I'm a Giants fan and I'm biased, but they did win the world series last year. They should be featured as the first game, if not the reds.

G F O P 03-31-2013 03:07 PM

Yankees have to use that lineup because of injuries. Am Yankee homer but cannot see them winning AL East this year.

Vamos Rafa 03-31-2013 03:19 PM

Compared to the NBA and the NHL, baseball has more parity in terms of teams being on national TV. The bottom-feeding Astros are on national TV, FFS!

The Pirates went something like 9 years between national appearances, so I'll go ahead and disagree.

I know Houston is moving to the AL and all...but this is a dud of an opening game. Houston may not win 50 games this year.

brendan 03-31-2013 03:53 PM

Can't believe the season's already here, can't wait for tomorrow

Starsfan24 03-31-2013 04:11 PM

Not complaining. I'll watch my Rangers tonight.

Kadri 4 Hart 03-31-2013 04:34 PM

Competing against Walking Dead & Game of Thrones..and they pick Houston as a team to play opening night? Expect half of the audience to tune out once the clock strikes 9.

Net Front Presence 03-31-2013 04:35 PM

Go Astros!
