What's left for the bruins?

Can somebody tell me what's left for the bruins?
They lost out on Iginla, Morrow, and Ryder and now it looks like they are about to lose out on clowe

Habsfannick 04-01-2013 12:27 PM

Nothing they'll lose in 5 to the habs ;)

TSC* 04-01-2013 12:29 PM

How did the Bruins lose out on Ryder?

They let him walk as a FA - then never made an effort to re-acquire him.

BlueDream 04-01-2013 12:29 PM

David Jones.

Matt Damon 04-01-2013 12:34 PM

They'll probably get someone who's not a rental like a Glencross. Also wouldn't count Clowe out yet either.

Soderberg has got talent unlike most of what's available. Hopefully he can adjust to the new league.

Hemsky and Whitney! If you ask nicely, you could get a belanger with them!

This.

No seriously, please take him.

nazembiggs* 04-01-2013 12:37 PM

kaberle as a good luck charm? Worked for them last time.

IranCondraAffair 04-01-2013 12:39 PM

The funny part is that Calgary still has some players that might interest Boston but that bridge seems pretty badly burned. Buffalo is out of the question, Phoenix can't spare any forwards, and Washington is still too close.

That leaves what...Avs, Nashville, Edmonton, Florida, Tampa, Philly? Still some good pieces on those teams.

If they were to do something big, they'd have done it already. It's hard for Chia to be sold on this year being 'the year.' Meanwhile, they just won 2 seasons ago, so they're doing alright.

There are multiple questions going forward though:

Is Lucic a $6mil player? (No NTC for him.)
What about re-signing Horton?
Keep Ference or not?
Khudobin?

I'd expect Chia to do a minor move or two like last season. Then focus on restructuring his team's salaries for down the road. That might include the controversial trade of Milan Lucic. imho. Perhaps to Edmonton.

McBrom7 04-01-2013 12:43 PM

We very may no do much at all. There's guys out there like Glencross, Fleischmann, and Jagr, but we have some ijuries to McQuaid, and Kelly who are expected back. Then Soderberg may be coming over from SEL and there's your addition.

Lucic - Krejci - Horton
Marchand - Bergeron - Seguin
Soderberg - Kelly - Pevs
Paille - Campbell - Thornton

Chara - Boychuk
Seidenberg - Hamilton
McQuaid - Ference

Rask
Dobby

I can live with this lineup.

Jagr, Soderburg, Boyes, Kobasew, Ribeiro(yuck) off the top of my head.

I don't think Ference will be back - could very well be traded on Wednesday. I WANT them to keep Khudobin, but he's playing stellar and should very well be earning himself a decent contract. There has been mentions of him going back to Russia, but personally I think it's based on money - if he gets a decent contract here, he'll stay.

FolignoQuantumLeap 04-01-2013 12:50 PM

To me, Dan Boyle would really put them over the top but with San Jose now in a playoff position I think they'll hold onto him. Would look into Yandle but he won't come cheap but is no rental. I just really think that team needs a puck mover.

TOML 04-01-2013 12:57 PM

Hemsky to the Bruins for futures? Then Lucic to Edm down the road?

Another issue is when they hand over the reins to Seguin? Next season is his 4th. He's due for a massive output gain, but only if he gets the time.

Nobody "gets the time" in Boston. Bergeron and Marchand get 18 or so minutes and then the rest of the top 6 (sometimes even top 9) float between 12-15.

As for the trade, doubtful on both deals.

They offered him a 2 Year Contact when he was a UFA but he wanted a longer term.

They almost re-aquired him last trade deadline.

whats chiarelli willing to part with?

DatsyukToZetterberg 04-01-2013 02:31 PM

Filppula or Riberio? I know Filppula can play the wing, can Riberio?, but I'm not sure the Bruins would move a 1st+prospect for him.

Peverley
Kelly
Boychuk
McQuaid
Caron
maybe Horton and Ference

Prospects
Bartkowski

Can't see it happening unless its cause of his great contract ;)
