Ottawa-Phoenix

Coyotes: Ben Bishop, Stephane Da Costa
Sens: Antoine Vermette, Michael Stone

Coyotes get a big and cheap goaltender, a young C, save NHL $
Sens get a C/LW good on faceoffs, can afford the cap hit next two seasons, collects another Stone project

Yotes can't afford to lose a Center considering their lack in that department...

If there's anyone i'd go hard after its Boedker.. but we'd have to add quite a bit to pry him out of Phoenix... another name I'm not sure how Yotes feel about is Lauri Korpikoski...

JackBauer 04-02-2013 04:11 PM

Rundblad or Pho's 1st or add to get Yandle. Don't need Vermette except for sentimental reasons.

Topside 04-02-2013 04:13 PM

Boedker please. Bishop + Greening + 2nd.

I laughed. You don't want to give up what you'd have to for Rundblad, our 1st or Yandle (that would be worth it).

My bad, didn't realize how bad you guys were. I know that sounds bad but I don't mean it as an insult. I figured you were a borderline playoff team so the 1st was somewhere in the 13th-17th range.

That said, I hardly think we have to add a ridiculous amount to Bishop+Da Costa to get DR7 back.

rt 04-02-2013 04:30 PM

I'd give you neither player for Bishop.

Than you'd be wrong.

Nice try Senator fans. This isn't our first rodeo. Wouldn't give you either player straight up for Bishop. Could care less about Da Costa. And I like Bishop.

bigfatfist 04-02-2013 04:32 PM

Not sure these teams line-up well. Some really quality players on PHX, but both are looking for top-flight scoring.

NO THANK YOU to trading for Rundblad bad. Sold high on him, IMO.

I'm more interested in hearing what kind of value Da Costa has?

Bishop's good and all, but we have Visentin for the future and Smith for now.

For me, I would say Da Costa isn't 'bad' or 'good,' but rather 'intriguing.' He's a smaller, pass-first center. He really does have a high hockey IQ and consistently holds the puck for that extra second to create quality opportunities for those around him. At the end of the day, I'm not sure where he ends up career-wise.

In terms of value, I would say expendable.

derriko 04-02-2013 04:55 PM

Ultimate upside for Da Costa imo= 2nd line center in the mold of David Desharnais (last year when he was better)

I'd say he has less than a 50% chance of hitting that upside though. More likely he is a call up top 6 center.

I don't quite think he is worth a 2nd, but I'd say definitely a 3rd.

I would be willing to trade him and a 3rd for Michael Stone. two 3rd's is about equivalent of a middle of the pack 2nd. is that off too much?

I know you guys have 8 NHL defenseman, so he could be expendable. Da Costa also could bring offensive creativity which the Yotes lack up front imo. He is more likely to reach that potential when hes not blocked by Spezza, Turris, Zib, and Smith as well.

Seen Da Costa in both AHL and NHL he is a playmaker with good vision and passing, Ive also been impressed on how he is good at picking off passes (shows his hockey IQ), IMO in the senators system after spezza and alfie, da costa probably has the best vision and playmaking ability, he also has pretty good hands ,with that said he is small, average skater and is still prone to turnovers or trying too much (just like a young spezza but da costa is only 23). He can probably be a second line center but third line center is a safe bet

No thanks. Dont wanna touch Vermette's contract.

Bishop > Da Costa > Stone

I would want Rundblad for that package.

You clearly have not watched Stone play then. And if you think Bishop + Da Costa gets you Rundblad, you're delusional.

What about something around Korpikoski? like I previously mentioned.

wubwubwubwub 04-02-2013 05:55 PM

Boedker will not be traded. It would probably take Cowen +

Korpedo's the perfect Tippett utility player. And the Coyotes are short on competent two-way forwards.

Who would you offer in turn?

burgess1978 04-02-2013 07:43 PM

What about Sullivan for a pick? Sens badly need a RH shot on the point.

wtf?? How is SDC > Stone?

Vermette would be perfect in MacLean's system and would be a perfect fit with Zibanejad and Turris down the middle.

Good proposal, fair value.

Stone is better now but Da Costa will eventually be the better player.

SDC is too small and too slow to have much of an impact both offensively and defensively. He has sweet hands but that's about it.

If he becomes an NHLer it's as a 30-40 point forward with a very limited defensive role.

Would be better for his career if he learned to play the wing imo
