Ryane Clowe to Rangers for NYR 2013 2nd, FLA 2013 3rd, Conditional 2nd 2014

Bruce Garrioch
@SunGarrioch
The Sharks and Rangers have agreed on a deal for draft picks. The deal will be completed once Ryane Clowe agrees to move. #TRADETRACKER

Let's keep this in it's own thread instead of the mega Trade Deadline thread.

Mod Edit:

Conditions of the additional 2nd round pick:

#NYR The 2014 conditional pick going back to SJ is a second-rounder if Clowe re-signs OR NYR win two rounds of playoffs. Otherwise a fifth

Brian Boyle 04-02-2013 05:08 PM

Wait until confirmation that Clowe has waived.

Brian Boyle 04-02-2013 05:25 PM

It's done.

Fitzy 04-02-2013 05:26 PM

I always thought the NHL entry draft was overrated anyways.

dmjt4160 04-02-2013 05:27 PM

He needs to just be Prust but start scoring goals again. Thats what I would do

Hunter Gathers 04-02-2013 05:27 PM

Meh. If he comes in and plays well, re-sign him. If not, I will be annoyed.

Parker 04-02-2013 05:28 PM

Any time you can trade a bunch of picks for a guy with zero goals, you've pretty much got to make that move.

Machinehead 04-02-2013 05:29 PM

We gave up 3 picks for Taylor Pyatt lite. Unbelievable.

I don't know much about Clowe at all. Is he a Prust like player?

BlueshirtBlitz 04-02-2013 05:30 PM

Bad move.

In before people come in and try to make it sound like it's much worse than it acually is, though.

Is it wrong that I laughed extremely hard at this?

He is a tough, slow forward who used to chip in offensively. Where that went this season I have no idea. 2 years ago everyone was talking about how they'd kill to have him.

Well I'm a bigger fan of Rangers fans now.

So for now I am neutral on it. Has the potential to be a solid deal, has the potential to be a bad deal.

Fitzy 04-02-2013 05:33 PM

Fun fact; Clowe is apparently from Fermeuse, Newfoundland, which has a population of under 300.

Not one of Sather's better trades. :(

Baby Punisher 04-02-2013 05:33 PM

#NYR Told Clowe is making arrangements to get to New York for tomorrow's game vs. Pitt at MSG
Clowe with the game winner tomorrow night and the boards go nuts.

Clowe is a far better player than Pyatt. It's really not that close. He's had a down year, but he's pretty easily a better player.

Loffen 04-02-2013 05:33 PM

Yawn, whateva. Just don't play like a oaf out there.

ColonialsHockey10 04-02-2013 05:34 PM

Clowe is a beast when he is on his game. And he was playing well the past few games.

If he comes to play and we resign him it's a great deal.

So, you're saying we came close to trading more picks for Clowe than he had neighbors as a child?

offdacrossbar 04-02-2013 05:34 PM

imo, this is alot to pay for

a guy having a down year

on his way to 31

and who may bolt for vancouver in the summer....

i mean does this guy help us down the road even a little bit and thats assuming he even resigns?

:shakehead

Brian Boyle 04-02-2013 05:34 PM

I'm wary of giving up picks, but I love Clowe. He's freakin' awesome, and he's exacly what this team needs. A mix of toughness, skill, and size. When was the last time we had a Ryane Clowe-like player?

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
As per @Real_ESPNLeBrun, it's SJ's 2nd, FLA's 3rd and conditional 2nd (on re-signing or winning two playoff series). If not, it becomes 5th.
