OEL and offence

What would you describe him as, defensive defenceman, offensive defenceman or two-way defenceman? To me it seems like he is two-way but with the tools to be really effective offensively - something he hasn't showed thus far.

He has the mind, the pass, the technical skills and the shot - yet he isn't producing a lot of points?

He's 21.

He's got all the tools to be a premiere, two-way D-man in this league. But, in Tippett's system, defense comes first.

He sees plenty of time on the PP though and is impressive with the puck on his stick.

Give it time. He'll get there.

As of right now I'd say he's a two-way defenseman.

He's producing at a 43 point pace over a full season as a 21 year old on a defensive-minded team with an atrocious powerplay.

I think his offense will be just fine.

He's 21, in his 3rd year, first season playing top pairing minutes, and he's on pace for a 40 point season over a full season in a defense-first team. He's a two way defenseman, sure, but I fail to see how he hasn't showed effective offense.

This, get the Coyotes a #1 center and another scoring forward and you can bet OEL is in Norris contention every year for the next decade, he'll be in it without that, but with that I could see a Lidstrom type run on the Norris trophy.

Two-way Defenseman IMO.

Rabbit 04-03-2013 12:39 PM

I would say offensive minded two-way defenseman
