Stastny for Yandle

Could it be done?

416Leafer 04-03-2013 07:00 AM

Colorado would have to add a decent piece. Yandle is better, with a lower caphit, and signed longer.

Soedy 04-03-2013 07:02 AM

I throw Jones in

TheMobGoesWild 04-03-2013 07:02 AM

Coyotes easily say no.

korpedo 04-03-2013 07:04 AM

Stastny + 2013 1st. You say no? Then its not gonna happen.

Soedy 04-03-2013 07:05 AM

2014 1st and I'd do it.

I'd say no then from an Avs perspective.

Not due a disparity in value but just the Avs should not be trading away their 1st, this year or next's.

Well either way it's not going to happen.

Remember how yo u guys hate the old "Bozak + pick for Stastny"?

This is the new "Bozak + pick for Stastny".

Phoenix says no.

I don't think I'd offer that for OEL, much less Yandle. That first is much more valuable than Yandle.

Sadly there's been a recent spat of random Avs fans that none of us can account for in the trades forum. Believe me, I've been getting frustrated with it myself.

None of them seem to understand what a search button is either.

This new spat of Avs fans the result of their inspiring play. It's easy to see how the bandwagon could fill up as of late.

Coyote fans can relate. We are about two hours away from a new poster proposing a Gagner for Yandle deal like it is a brand new idea that will shock the hockey world. Usually includes Hanzal as a complete throw in.

Not sure what you're getting at here, but it is understandable if fans think they have a unique idea to improve our club from the basement. Just wish they'd come to our board and talk instead of propose these trades we've been through numerous times or ones that make us worse.

I'll drink to that. Everyone that visits this forum but doesn't come to our main forum always thinks they are the only ones that understands where our holes in the lineup are at. Being such a secretive organization where rumors go to die just makes it more difficult I think.

Just to make this somewhat productive and on topic for the OP. Yandle is more valuable at this stage, but not valuable enough to the Avs to undersell on what we view Stastny's value to be.

Meanwhile Yandle's age and performance justify an overpayment from a team ready to contend, but not a team still filling out their pieces just to get back into the playoffs that would have to re-sign him when he's in his early 30s when they're ready to contend themselves.

It just doesn't make sense for us to include the assets Phoenix needs to move Yandle and likewise for them to take on a more expensive center that may or may not solve their needs but is on a shorter term deal.

Ha, and because its you Phoenix, well even throw in Greg zannon as the kicker.

Trafalgar Law 04-03-2013 09:46 AM

Isn't the point of moving Yandle to save money? Stastny earns a ton.

Avs44 04-03-2013 09:49 AM

 this again? Learn to use the search feature OP.

Oh, I'm just messing around. But yeah, it's always the knuckleheads that propose absurd stuff. In all the years I've been on here, I don't think I've ever started a trade proposal thread...reason being, I know I'm no good at it. I don't think I can possibly propose a Bruins centric trade thread and have it not be biased in their favor. It's human nature...you never want to give up something of value from your favorite club. I'm protecting myself from myself.

As for Stastny, they're never going to get anywhere close to equal value for him right now because of his contract/diminished play this year, so it doesn't make any sense to move him. You have to hope he returns to form next year, which then allows you to decide if he's in the plans long term, or if it makes more sense to get a return for him.

Deal if you mean David, you're dreaming if you mean Seth.

cgf 04-03-2013 10:05 AM

For Staz's numbers to return we'd need a coach that isn't afraid of the team cycling the puck around in the offensive zone, we'd need our wingers to stay healthy so all 3 Cs can have good ones, and a coach who doesn't use Staz as our shutdown line center.

Anyway I'd rather keep him, hope like hell we get Seth Jones in the draft and if that doesn't work wait for Barrie and Elliott to arrive fully so we can package one of them with a winger in another EJ-esque trade.

Benighted 04-03-2013 10:10 AM

Is this yandle for stastny part 17 or 18? I have lost count.

I think we're getting close to Staz For Yandle part 69.

Petes2424 04-03-2013 10:13 AM

Phoenix is not going to move a guy on a long-term deal at a decent dollar value for a guy who has a one year, high cap hit. Just not going to happen.
