Was this loss against Florida the one... Mod - Panic Thread

that starts the downward spiral out of the playoffs?

Our final games are against:
Tampa
Philly
NJ
Boston
Carolina
Washington
Toronto
Pittsburgh
Washington
Philly

Losing to Buffalo and Florida are both games we should have won to give us a little more space. With all the above teams fighting for the playoffs and that we have had trouble with most of them are you the least bit worried?

If ever we needed scoring it is now.

4 games. Relax. Still in a playoff spot.

I've been posting with you since the SNet and 'Sens official forum' days. You never disappoint me :)

Not even close.

We have 44 points in 38 games. It's largely agreed (On pace projections, magic numbers etc) you probably need 54-56 points to get a really good shot at a playoff berth. So the team "needs" 10-12 points.

That said, we aren't the only ones playing and vying for a playoff spot. Teams below the cutoff line are dying a death of thousand cuts with each line. Have 41 points and lose to Buffalo? Woops, that sucked, you need 4-6 more points now instead of two.
Is your team 6-8 points out? Well, start looking at draft rankings.

We are still in the playoffs. Yes, it's possible/likely we go to 8th place, maybe 9th, by the time next week is over but those other teams still need to win! Worrying about this is pointless. This team can beat Philly, Carolina, Buffalo...they just need to re-focus and get it done.

Marty Straka 04-07-2013 08:56 PM

We are still 4pts up on 9th with 2 games in hand.. no need to panic.

7 games. Relax. Oh wait out of a playoff spot.

Don't see why this isn't a good time to talk about this

I started a thread just like this last season on the leaf boards just before the completely fell apart.

We have had a lot of luck this season considering the amount of injuries. If we don't take or offense to another level not even a healthy Anderson will be enough.

All of the afternoon games have hurt us imo.

My worry is that a lot of those other teams are starting to get hot right about now. Carolina is sucking, but we always seem to lose to them.

Tanky tanky time.

Need 5 wins. If in 6 games we are 1-5-0 or 2-4-0 then the team can start panicking.
The players aren't panicking.

Plus there is a possibility that missing the playoffs puts a huge chip on the team's shoulders and they come out roaring next year. ;)

pt_mck 04-07-2013 09:00 PM

No the leaf game last week started the downward spiral that will result in he sens missing the playoffs

Gil Gunderson 04-07-2013 09:00 PM

Well it definitely was a good opportunity to maybe turn things around.

A Panthers team on the 2nd half of a back-to-back, playing their backup. You can't ask for anything more.

because there are 10 teams wishing they had our record and those games could easily be 3 wins.

RuthlessLieutenant 04-07-2013 09:07 PM

This road trip is killing us.

Kind of. I think it was just a bad loss. The fact our latest losses were against teams we should have crushed shows more of a lack of focus required to get the job done.

Sensinitis 04-07-2013 09:11 PM

Domi-oh-noesss

Lonnie Loach 04-07-2013 09:14 PM

Same thing happened last year. Remember the Montreal game, Andy's first game back from injury where he got lit up and the panic ensued. We had lost a few in a row back then and the playoffs looked to be in jeopardy.

It'll come down to the leadership of this team taking charge and raising their game.

Flamingo 04-07-2013 09:17 PM

This loss makes it officially a skid. So it lets them put a stamp on it, and hopefully wrap in paper and throw it in the bin. The players will re-focus, Mac will make some roster adjustments, and we'll see the team go 5-2-3 to finish the season.

Anderson's only been back 1 game, he'll get used to the weight of the world being back solidly on his shoulders.

Xspyrit 04-07-2013 09:18 PM

Please stop this dude from making threads. Just came back from the hospital where I spent the entire day taking care of my mother and got spoiled by the stupid title when I tried to just open the GDT at the 1st page (like to read when I watch). Just STOP making threads. Post your thoughts in the GDTs or PGTs. Imagine if everyone was making threads for all the random thoughts they have? lol insane

Let's start panicking when we're in 9th place, until then, we should just enjoy this rocky ride.

Variable26 04-07-2013 09:20 PM

I saw disorganized and heartless play tonight. No need to panic.

That's what I was thinking. If I remember right we just squeaked in by a few points after a downward spiral reminiscent of what's going on now..
