2013 NHL Draft- Risers and Fallers

Hello All,

As you all know in any draft there are prospects that get picked before the are projected (Risers) and the players that get picked later than they are projected (Fallers). In every draft you see "Off the board" picks that work out;Karlsson, Schiefele, or Ekman-Larsson as well as ones that don't;Hickey, Glennie, or Bailey. There are also the guys that fall in the draft that turn out to be steals; Grigorenko, Fowler, or Tarasenko ,and guys that fall and teams turn out to be correct in letting him slide; Esposito, Ebert, or McFarland (Not great examples).

Anyways my question is which guys in this draft do you think will fall in the draft and who will rise

Also just because there a Faller doesn't mean there not a good prospect and the slide can be 4-5 spots

Pick 5 Risers and 5 Fallers:

Here are my picks:

Risers:
Shea Theodore
Robert Hagg
Mirco Mueller
Jason Dickinson
Oliver Bjorkstrand

Fallers:
Valeri Nichushkin
Josh Morissey
Adam Erne
Elias Lindholm
Max Domi

I don't think those are good examples. They haven't fallen in any lists I've seen besides 1 or 2 spots. Some lists even have them incredibly high.

Fallers for me:
Eric Roy
Mike Vlajkov
Curtis Lazar
Will Carrier
Ryan Kujawinski

What about Alex Forsberg?

he was numero uno in WHL draft 2010. Last year sure 1. round pick. And now he is in SJHL.

JJTT 04-15-2013 03:27 AM

Risers:

Mirco Mueller ranked 25-50, possible top20
Marko Dano ranked 35-60 possible 25-35
Robert Hägg ranked 15-30 can go top 10
Jakob de la Rose 25-30 possible top15
Rasmus Ristolainen (ranked 15-30 lately, can go top10 imo)

Fallers:

Artturi Lehkonen ranked 20-35, can fall to late 2nd because of his injury issues

Alexander Wennberg ranked 13-25, first pro season, not so much production before this season, avarege u20's. 25-35

Max Domi ranked 10-15 his size will scare teams of 15-20

Valeri Nichushkin top5 talent can fall to 12-17 range because of the "russian factor"

Zachary Fucale ranked 9-15 will fall to 16-35 because teams don't pick goalies in deep draft that early. He also plays behind stacked team.

romelson 04-15-2013 03:39 AM

Riser: Viktor Arvidsson.

Vancouver scout Thomas Gradin predicts Arvidsson will get drafted in the 2nd round. Thats a prediction he made after last nights game.

Nichushkin is the obvious "faller," I'll be very interested to see where he goes.

Re: Domi, not sure if it counts as falling as he's ranked 26 in the latest ISS ranking, but I can definitely see him taken towards the end of the 1st round.

I think Hägg could fall if he doesn't have a good U18 tournament.

DKQ 04-15-2013 05:37 AM

Fallers: Hagg, Lehkonen, Mantha, Burakowsky, Pulock

Risers: Horvat, Hartman, Nastasiuk, Theodore

SMantzas 04-15-2013 07:40 AM

Anthony Duclair was considered a top 10 pick coming into the season

Fozz 04-15-2013 07:41 AM

Anthony Mantha might fall considerably.

Mozesmadness 04-15-2013 01:43 PM

Some good lists, keep going,

I see some people agree about Mueller I can honestly see him going in the top half of the first round.

Biggest jumper is Peter Cehlarik.

was never mentioned before and now he is 28. in Europe ranking.

Hockeyfrilla 04-25-2013 09:18 AM

Hägg should be in free fall after the performance at U18's

R S 04-25-2013 10:16 AM

I would say it's really an impossible thing to throw out there, unless you specify your baseline. Are we using NHL Central Scouting's rankings? A different organizations rankings? Your own personal rankings?

After the draft, we might consider a guy as a "riser" when an NHL team had him top 5 on their overall board...because that's just the nature of the beast with every team having a different list going in.

backdoorpass 04-25-2013 10:20 AM

emile poirier is going to go higher i think, morin will go higher as well and then gauthier i think will go lower then rankings

dustrock 04-25-2013 10:21 AM

Bowey is a good pick for a riser I think as mentioned above.

Many swedes will fall after U18 WJC, but yeah, Hagg stood out in a bad way.

Ya exactly. Mirco Mueller could be a top 5 defenseman on one teams list, and not in the top 10 of anothers. I guess it would be obvious if someone like...Hudson Fasching, who isnt in anyone's first round...went like 25th.

tyflames 04-25-2013 11:33 AM

Rising:
James Lodge
Shea Theodore
Samuel Morin
Ian McCoshen

Falling:
Hagg (after his U18 performance)
Rychel
Petan (falls in second round because of size and being on a stacked team)
Fucale (product of a good team)
Gauthier (production dropped late in the season)
