Ignorance of the HF rules is not an excuse.

Here's the rules :

Know them and abide by them.

They are not open for discussion. Freedom of speech is not applicable to a privately owned site like HF.

I hate bringing this up in every single thread on the history board.

This is an example of a personal attack. It's not the only one in this thread (although it's the best recent example here).

We do not allow personal attacks.

I'm getting so sick and tired of repeating myself, and I *will* be giving out infractions, thread bans, and whatever else that I need to do to clean this section up.

Consider this the last warning that any of you will receive.

Thread-hijacking and off-topic posts

The history of hockey board exists to discuss the history of hockey in all its aspects. More and more, we have been having problems with posters hijacking multiple topics to discuss their pet topic or favorite player(s). Having your favorite topic is fine, but it is not fine to derail discussion about anything else to talk about your favorite topic in every thread. Doing so is inconsiderate to everyone else who wants to talk about the subject of a thread, and is considered thread-hjacking, a violation of site-rules.

If you want to talk about a certain topic, find a thread where it is on-topic or start a new thread.

The history board is for the enjoyment of everyone who wants to talk about the history of the game, and posters who continue to hijack threads will get infractions for thread-hijacking and/or banned from the threads they are trying to drive off-topic.

Edit: If you have any questions about this, please PM me or one of the other moderators of the History Board.

We are loosening the restriction on posters who want to talk about how players of today are better than players from the past, etc. The "evolution of hockey" and "changes in the talent pool" topics.

Some thought that the old restriction could have been keeping newer or more casual history fans away, and this was never the intention. Come here, post here, and maybe you'll end up with a new found respect for the history of the sport... or maybe not.

However, the prohibition on thread hijacking is still in full force. As is the prohibition on generalized flaming - "anyone who thinks X is an idiot" type posts.

And "hit and run" posts about how are players from before poster X was born were terrible can still be considered trolling if the intention is to rile people up.

Effectively, this isn't a huge a change from the way the board has been moderated in recent years. We aren't here to censor topics or points of view if posters wish to have discussions in a respectful manner.

If anyone has any questions or suggestions, please PM me or another one of the history board moderators.
