Ottawa - Chicago

Zach Smith
+

for

Bolland

Pros for Chicago:
- Salary cap releif.
- Smith is a good 3C/4C option to replace Bolland
- Bolland does have a tendency to get injured easily and Smith is a everyday NHL'er who is struggling a bit this year.

Cons for Chicago:
- Bolland is a better player

Pros for Ottawa:
- Bolland is a better player

Cons for Ottawa:
- Depends on what the + is.

Let me just say I love Bolland so I would make a deal that would be unreasonable to some. He is a playoff warrior and someone that would be a fan fav in Ottawa. Chicago has got some great peices so losing Bolland wouldnt hurt them all that much and based on how Bryan friggin Bickell is playing right now, Smith would be an absolute stud on that team.

THoughts?

Hawks will pass... they have a very rich farm system.
Team wont be in a bad cap situation because of it, lots of cheap options to fill out the roster

Penosity 04-17-2013 12:04 PM

What's so impressive about Zach Smith?

Benjamin 04-17-2013 12:07 PM

Makes no sense for Chicago.

He's a fantastic checking center, perfect third line guy.
Bolland is worth more, but Smith is a valuable asset.

Hawkaholic 04-17-2013 12:14 PM

the + would have to be something REALLY good, in order for Chicago to downgrade at C.

wubwubwubwub 04-17-2013 12:44 PM

Spezza
Turris
Zibanejad
Bolland

Why?

Bubba88 04-17-2013 01:14 PM

Hawks need a #2 C or Top4 D - not a bottom 6 Center

guyzeur 04-17-2013 01:44 PM

Would you take Turris?

We got Zibanejad coming quite nicely. I think Turris can become part of a trade

Honestly, I might consider something around Turris. I'd have to heavily evaluate but it is something I'd consider - moving Turris for a similarly impactful player who is more suited to 3rd line.

Lol. ^ beaten to it.

Hawkaholic 04-17-2013 02:10 PM

No thanks to Turris, doesn't improve the team enough to consider moving Bolland.

Disagree. Turris has the potential to be a pretty good #2 in the league. Bolland has been given lots of oppurtunity with the Hawks skilled wings this season and does not even remotely resemble a #2. At this point Turris would be a bit of a caculated gamble as he is to an extent still unproven...but 4 years younger, singed for 4 more years then Bolland at essentially the same money (3.5 per is a steal for a #2 if Turris can be that), slightly bigger, slightly better at faceoffs, and better offensively by a decent margin...I'll take Turris. Bolland has not really improved with faceoffs, is smallish, injury prone, 4 years older and a UFA in a year.

Benjamin 04-17-2013 03:15 PM

Would have to be a nice + beside Bolland to consider trading Turris for him.

theaub 04-17-2013 03:19 PM

I don't think the Hawks board can handle Turris and Kane on the same team

Magix 04-17-2013 04:15 PM

Turris is a legit #2 center. Why would the sens give him up for bolland?

HockeySensible 04-17-2013 06:14 PM

Turris' best PpG season was on par with Bolland's best.. and Bolland's without a doubt the more well-rounded player.

If Chicago's going to moved Bolland, it should be in a package for an actually legit 2nd line centre.

dan1el 04-17-2013 06:21 PM

Honestly, I don't want Bolland on Ottawa, and Chicago doesn't want anything we would offer for Bolland even more. I don't think there's a deal to be made here.

here come the 04-17-2013 06:23 PM

Bolland will probably get traded this offseason, and the Hawks have had interest in Smith in the past. We need draft picks, so maybe Smith and a second?

ErikKarlsson 04-17-2013 09:33 PM

I'd love Bolland on the Sens, can he play wing at all?

HockeySens 04-17-2013 09:54 PM

dont think either team needs to make this trade, and chicago loses this trade

EbonyRaptor 04-17-2013 11:22 PM

Counter proposal:

To Ottawa: Bolland + Chicago 1st

To Chicago: Ottawa 1st + Ottawa 2nd

Chicago improves 1st round position by 5-10 spots plus gets cap relief to sign more of their free agents

Ottawa gets a pretty good player who plays even better in the playoffs.

massivegoonery 04-18-2013 12:09 AM

Bolland for Turris seems fine to me.

TurdFerguson 04-18-2013 12:21 AM

If Bolland for Turris happened, Chicago would have to trade for JVR.

Bolland for Turris would be OK
