Dannyboy's Mock Draft (updated 1st-25th)

Getting close to the end of the year. The teams at the bottom are getting more clear.

Here's how I have it playing out.

1st Overall - The Florida Panthers look for a face of the franchise and with the 1st Pick are happy to select from the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League:

http://s17.postimg.org/svgnkqukv/mac.jpg
Nathan Mackinnon

2nd Overall - The Colorado Avalanche look for some more help on the blueline and this selection is a no-brainer as they are happy to select from the Portland Winterhawks for the Western Hockey League:
http://s11.postimg.org/lrkxmyqo3/jones2.jpg
Seth Jones

3rd Overall - The Carolina Hurricanes sit back and are glad to take the best player available at 3. The crafty, point producer and second player drafted from the Mooseheads:
http://s24.postimg.org/xsm9pyrn9/image.jpg
Jonathan Drouin

4th Overall - The Tampa Bay Lightning have Center depth, but cant pass up on having a for sure 1 - 2 punch in the future and select the Fin with NHL-ready size:
http://s7.postimg.org/dtinykv0r/bark_4.jpg
Aleksander Barkov

5th Overall - The Edmonton Oilers hope this is the last time drafting in the top 5 for a while, but are more then happy to select the bruising Dman from the Soo Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League:

Darnell Nurse

shoulda done the whole round!

BarDownBobo 04-23-2013 11:04 AM

Nice work with the photoshopping. Think that the Oil would grab either Lindholm or Monahan there though.

Nurse seems like a stud dman and great fit for the Oil or Flyers, but I understand not wanting to pass over 2 offensive threats.

ResilientBeast 04-23-2013 12:33 PM

Yeah we do need dmen, but NHL dmen. If we pick 5th we're taking Monahan

ManByng 04-23-2013 12:53 PM

...and if we pick 6th, likely Elias Lindholm.

i could see the Oil taking Nurse or Ristolainen with an 8th or 9th pick though.

Sterling31 04-23-2013 03:30 PM

6th Overall - The Nashville Predators are happy that this player fell out of the top 5 and nab the NHL ready Ottawa 67 of the Ontario League:

Sean Monahan

7th Overall - Calgary Flames fans would have hoped to slide into the top 3, but wont be upset when they see the ever skilled Swede still on the board at 7:
http://s1.postimg.org/8nqzvqdz3/lind.jpg
Elias Lindholm

8th Overall - Buffalo Sabres drafted very well last year, and look to add another piece for the future. How about another sizable Russian to play wing for the one drafted the year prior?
http://s10.postimg.org/tj3wn25cp/nik.jpg
Valeri Nichushkin

9th Overall - Philadelphia Flyers see themselves outside of the playoffs and drafting in the top 10. A big, mobile and smart Dman is what they are after and It seems the 6"4 200+ pound Finn is on the docket:
http://s22.postimg.org/wp7st3vq9/ras.jpg
Rasmus Ristolainen

10th Overall - New Jersey Devils would like to make good with this pick, they have to forfeit next years. Tons of shots and not a lot of goals, while Kovalchuk was out of the lineup. Just so happens a pure sniper is left on board at 10:

Hunter Shinkaruk

11- 15th in post #13

arsmaster 04-23-2013 05:48 PM

These are hilarious. Keep em coming.

-Shinkaruk towering over people.
-Barkov with his squished face
-Nurse looked all g'd out with the sideways cap
-Drouin looking like a little kid who just did something bad
-Mackinnon looking like he's ready to take over the world

 when doing that one, that is all I was thinking about. If he were 6"3 would he be a top 3?

CoachBadkitten 04-23-2013 07:01 PM

Pictures are awesome, and the Avs pick is perfect.

Mozesmadness 04-23-2013 09:10 PM

Haha thanks for the good laugh these are great

Sterling31 04-23-2013 09:58 PM

11th Overall - Phoenix Coyotes are outside of the top 10, and in my opinion sit at the first drop off in the draft. They are happy to take massive Dman from the London Knights though:
http://s14.postimg.org/wktjqibcx/image.jpg
Nikita Zadorov

12th Overall - Dallas Star are happy to take the slipping Dman who was once touted inside the top 10 from the Wheat Kings:
http://s23.postimg.org/nabenrqt7/image.jpg
Ryan Pulock

13th Overall - Winnipeg Jets just miss out of the playoffs in the east, and find them adding a familiar name to their prospect pool:
http://s15.postimg.org/fmbjxldxn/domi.jpg
Max Domi

14th Overall - Columbus Blue Jackets just miss as well after a solid effort all around. Was not a total failure as they are able to add a 50 goal scorer from Jrs into their prospect pool.
http://s24.postimg.org/eir27nkat/image.jpg
Anthony Mantha

15th Overall - Detroit Red Wings may be in a semi transition mode. With a pick in the middle of the draft, they look to add a Dman. The smooth skating Defender from Price Albert fits the bill:

Josh Morrissey

Couldn't find a draft picture with the new uni's. :)

Sterling31 04-25-2013 09:02 AM

16th Overall - Buffalo Sabres (via Minnesota Wild) look to add another piece to the rebuilding puzzle; Although set at center, it's hard to look past the size of this Rimouski forward:
http://s1.postimg.org/3ptmbz28f/image.jpg
Frederik Gauthier

17th Overall - Ottawa Senators have strength in just about every position, getting healthy is the main concern next year; but are happy to add another swede into the fold:
http://s21.postimg.org/72nsq3xbr/image.jpg
Alexander Wennberg

18th Overall - Columbus Blue Jackets (Via NYR) second pick of three in the first round they add the big bodied winger from the Remparts:
http://s24.postimg.org/5zg2x921h/image.jpg
Adam Erne

19th Overall - New York Islanders have strength through the middle and sturdy on the back-end. It seems they are targeting goaltending as their biggest concern for the future:
http://s24.postimg.org/sgm8e1xud/image.jpg
Zach Fucale

20th Overall - Calgary Flames (via St.Louis) take another dip into the first round and are happy to take the versatile forward from the OHL's top team:

Bo Horvat

Want to post the names too? I know about most of the prospects but I don't know what they look like...

MonkeyBusiness 04-25-2013 09:16 AM

Fucale is hilarious, I also like Wennberg and Shinkaruk.

Was leaving them out for fun, but what the heck I'll add em in now.

MichaelK 04-25-2013 09:41 AM

While they could use a goalie, I think you overstate the Islanders depth at forward. Outside of Nino, Strome, and Nelson there is no depth when it comes to pure scorers. Most of their prospects at forward are third and fourth line players. Some have offensive upside (like Anders Lee, Johan Sundstrom) but they are not necessarily the type of guys that winning teams have on their top 2 lines

Money Baer 04-25-2013 11:03 AM

Flames:
1. Lindholm
2. Horvat
3. ?

LOVE IT!

I really hope Calgary takes Burakowsky with Pittburgh's pick.:naughty:

rt 04-25-2013 04:37 PM

Phoenix doesn't do Russians - and I'd be SHOCKED if they took a LHD with their first pick in the draft. OEL, Yandle, and Gormley aren't enough? Haha. :)

Fun mock, though. Hilariously awesome. Well done!

JMac13 04-25-2013 05:14 PM

Fucale photoshop is amazing hahahaha

Sterling31 04-26-2013 08:52 AM

21st Overall - Toronto Maple Leafs are grateful to gain playoff experience and define their direction. They are happy to add a player who doesn’t mind getting his nose dirty. From the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League:
http://s3.postimg.org/aic0founn/image.jpg
Kerby Rychel

22nd Overall – San Jose Sharks have some older players and hope a quick turn-around along with strong drafting will set them up for the future. They are happy to take the feisty American playing from the Whalers:
http://s16.postimg.org/mkqshv0kl/image.jpg
Ryan Hartman

23rd Overall – Montreal Canadiens have a core in place and will look to add some key young players for the future. The Passionate, character player from the Oil Kings, fits the bill perfectly:
http://s13.postimg.org/m0mgr2hpj/image.jpg
Curtis Lazar

24th Overall – Washington Capitals are a team that is in win now mode. They have the players to do it; I see them going off the board a bit with the somewhat unknown talent from Finland:
http://s23.postimg.org/mq3v5oxi3/image.jpg
Artturi Lehkonen

25th Overall - Columbus Blue Jackets (via Las Angeles) were happy to fight for a playoffs spot this year, and are equally as happy to work the draft floor with three picks, they are happy to see this point producing forward from the Pats still on the board at 25:
