Only two Islanders have previously won it.. Ed Westfall in '77 and Mark Fitzpatrick in '92.

Go Radek! :handclap:

when he has played he has been very solid for us.

Strange that they'd nominate a frequent healthy scratch. But whatever. Good luck to Radek.

He's healthy and gonna be healthy in the playoffs. This is something I have to give props to Snow for. He's a solid backchecker, has a lethal shot {and uses it more} and can stop guys on the boards better than anyone {though I always fear he'll get injured with a late hit}.

So...if he can be as good as he's been all year for a grueling seven game series, he'll be a key guy to help us.

But he defies the odds and plays hard {with an "r", not an "h"} every night after sooo many injuries. Hard to overlook Radek.

Radek isn't going to win, but good for him.

doesn't really matter that he won't win the league-wide award — he's a great Islander, has been with this franchise for a decade, has stepped up when needed. i'm really glad he's been around for this run.

Nice for him, he's a great guy.

Radek may not win the regular Masterson Trophy, but if they have a Lifetime Achievement Masterson he's a shoe-in.

Seriously though, good for him.

Masterton Trophy not Masterson

And if I remember correctly, each team gets a nominee I believe.

Radek has been a trooper for us throughout the past decade. I was at the Canes game he scored the OT winner against barasso and skated out to center ice when he was named 1st star. Will never forget that lol. And he was a good sport when Laviolette was ribbing him about flossing with rope bc he has no teeth at some roast or something of that ilk. Lifetime Masterton for overcoming injuries every...single...season.

Shoo-in.

Anyway, Martinek's been good this season. Limiting his days on the ice seems to have helped him.

There's a good chance he just didn't understand .

Anyway, Radek is one of the guys that has made New York his home. I remember that after his injury at the Worlds, he went back home to New York. I always have a soft spot for guys who decide to stick around the area, and not make it just their winter home.

I'm very happy to see Martinek got nominated. Even if he doesn't win, I'm glad he got recognized. He's always been a steady, sound D-Man and he's probably my favorite player after Tavares. He also has a pretty nice shot. I love Marty and I'm glad we brought him back this season. Good job!
