Will (should) rangers trade into the first round of 2013 draft?

Will the rangers make a splash at the draft to try and grab anything from this supposedly deep draft ... Maybe trade mcilrath for a mid to late first rounder ? Or two of our European prospects for a late first rounder

I'm not sure McIrath gets the Rangers into the mid to late first round. Not sure the Rangers want to deal McIrath anyway as they have invested a lot of time in him.

Teams dealing first round picks don't want other, lesser prospect. They want quality, not quantity.

GAGLine 04-25-2013 12:45 PM

Won't happen. No way McI, Fast or Lindberg are getting traded.

16 To Stanley* 04-25-2013 12:48 PM

Why would we do this? Who cares.

NYRKING30 04-25-2013 12:48 PM

I would be shocked if that somehow happened.

Miz 04-25-2013 12:48 PM

As much as we all want a 1st rounder, i dont see it happening. Just bite the bullet this year and have something to be excited for next year.

TheRightWay 04-25-2013 12:49 PM

For what reason? Would it be nice to have a first round pick? Obviously. But I don't see the pressing need to get one just for the sake of saying we have one.

ThisYearsModel 04-25-2013 12:54 PM

Just win tonight so that Columbus does not end up with Seth Jones from our #1 pick.

Bird Law 04-25-2013 12:56 PM

Why would we trade good known quantities for an unknown? I'm all for trading vets or picks. But we aren't going to move prospects for picks.

Because it makes the draft more exciting for me. Duh.

The way it stands now, I'm not even sure I'm going to get drunk on Draft Day. THINK ABOUT THAT.

Meh, I see no great necessity. No reason to shuffle assets just for the sake of shuffling them.

See post 12.

Rangers Fail 04-25-2013 01:12 PM

So trade a prospect for an unknown, less ready prospect? Really?

silverfish 04-25-2013 01:15 PM

I could see them moving into the first round.

Maybe some team will be dumb enough to trade the rights to negotiate with Clowe early for a 1st or 2nd rounder :sarcasm:

I got flamed for this in the Moore thread, but I can really see, and I mean really - no sarcasm here - see Del Zotto getting shipped at the draft for a 1st round++

RangerBoy 04-25-2013 01:40 PM

Ship Marc Staal to Carolina for their #1 as part of the package.

Trxjw 04-25-2013 01:43 PM

We have a draft thread.
