Kevin Bieksa

Hard nosed, hardworking D. Don Cherry's favourite guy in the NHL What's his value?

Teeder9 04-25-2013 02:05 PM

What do you want?

Seriously, I would want Kadri and Gardiner.

Teeder9 04-25-2013 02:12 PM

K, in all seriousness, what do you think you'd get?

blankall 04-25-2013 02:28 PM

Bieksa's play is still inconsistent. Last year he was dynamite. This year and the year before, not so much.

I'd offer a 60-70 point young forward that suffers from some inconsistencies.

Bieska is a guy who seems to perform much better in contract years. Not exaclty a quality most are looking for in a top pairing defender.

Do not want to trade any of our D
Edler - Inconsistent, but when hes on, hes a true #1 DMan
Hamhuis - One of the better Shutdown Defenseman in League
Garrison - Great all around defenseman, really good shot.
Bieksa - Heart and soul Defenseman, physical, core member of team.
Tanev - Up and coming, young, reliable defenseman.
Corrado - Same as Tanev, but more physical.

Having those 6 D for the next several years is perfect. If any D was to move, it'd be Ballard for sure.

Kershaw 04-25-2013 02:34 PM

What are Vancouver's needs? Kreider+ for Bieksa.

that'd be very intriguing since Kreider could replace Raymond next year. Canucks need a top 9 Center with offensive Potential = Brassard(If Roy Doesnt Resign) and/or top 9 Winger with Potentia = Kreider

Cogburn 04-25-2013 02:40 PM

Why is this a thread? Bieksa is our most valuable (to us) Dman, given that we have no one that can replace his grit/snarl/physicality, offensive play and defensive play. We have 2 of each element in other D, at best, but Bieksa is our only full package defender.

Overpayment would be needed, if someone were to ask, but no ones asking...appairently we're dangling him as trade talk bait.

Teeder9 04-25-2013 02:41 PM

We have no centers to spare. We don't even have as many good ones as you do now.

KaraLupin 04-25-2013 02:50 PM

Brad Marchand

Vankiller Whale 04-25-2013 02:56 PM

We should probably wait until Corrado plays more than one game before proclaiming Bieksa expendable.

Kip96 04-25-2013 03:00 PM

Canucks don't have enough right handed Dmen so I don't think trading Bieksa is a great idea

He probably has much more value to us than anyone else. Our record is so much better with him in the lineup

No thanks.

I'd offer Matt Frattin and Stu Percy.

Bieksa is solid and Canucks record without him in the lineup isn't great.

In a nutshell

Al Swearengen 04-25-2013 03:03 PM

Classic example of a guy who is more valuable to Vancouver's organization than he is in trade.

luongo321 04-25-2013 03:05 PM

Bieksa's very inconsistent. When he's on, he's really on and may rise to the occasion. Other times, he looks horrendous. I just hope he brings it for the playoffs.

Alflives 04-25-2013 03:20 PM

Bieksa is a player, who fills a very valuable role as a #3/4 guy. His combination of skill, heart and physical edge would be extremely difficult to replace. Vancouver would be making a bad move trading him.

There would be 30 teams lined up to get Bieksa. The Canucks should be given credit for signing their D group to contracts that make them all valued assets.

vBurmi 04-25-2013 04:03 PM

Hasn't he been playing through a groin injury most of the year? Add that to the fact that the Canucks offense tends to start slow and you have an explanation for his numbers this year. Also note his contract - great price, plenty of remaining term and full NTC.

I can't see why the Canucks would trade a core piece of their team for a package centered around Matt freaking Frattin - no offense TML fans.

No idea. I've actually had a change of heart after carefully examining my proposal as well.

Not that I think Vancouver should do it, but the Leafs will give up two pretty good pieces here.

Lord Flacko* 04-25-2013 06:20 PM

From Toronto I would probably want Gardiner + something minor, but I highly doubt he gets traded since hes part of our core and basically our only consistently physical top 4 defensemen. He also has a ntc and as mentioned previously, our record without him is horrible.

The YzerJesus 04-25-2013 09:28 PM

Well I see most Canuck fans wouldn't trade him so far, but for poops and giggles, Tampa offers Teddy Purcell. What else is needed?

Huntershin Karuk 04-25-2013 09:31 PM

Tanev is less physical than Corrado but more mobile. Other than that they're very similar players.
