Also of note:
Lehner will play one of the final two games. (Guessing Boston)
Some players will most likely be rested in the final two games.

Good call.

What's with Lehner and playing Boston.

He arguably knows the team better then Anderson, this season. Plus, they probably want him to get that monkey off his back.

Not sure why we would rest players, we need the points.

I think Alfie and Phillips need a rest and so do the rookies, but they will probably play.

I think if we beat Philly on Saturday, we won't see Alfie, Karlsson or Gonchar make the trip to Boston.

If we lose then I think most of them play...

Why would we sit Karlsson? He needs games under his belt before playoffs.

It will depend on how he feels today

If our players aren't rested we lose to everyone. I'd rather have guys at 75-100% against Pitts or Boston than guys at 50-75% against Washington.

The Waffler 04-26-2013 04:01 PM

Why not rest players. we don't need any points, we clinched. If we wanna win the cup we're gonna have to beat any team at any given moment. Who cares about the match up.

Even with our players rested, our chances against Pittsburgh/Boston are not great. Meanwhile unrested I think we can take Montreal or Washington, and still get days off in between games next week for rest.(As well as 2 days in a row off if scheduling permits).

Phillips has been great this year, Alfie hasn't taken any time off all season which would means he feels good.

I guess I'd just like to get more points for a slightly easier playoff opponent. Yesterday everyone was worried about us clinching, and one day later we're talking about resting players. 6th place in standings > 7 or 8th .

We barely beat Washington. Take Karlsson out and we lose that game. Our players are dead tired. We need to rest guys if we want to last more than 4 games. I don't care what team it is, there is no easy games in the playoffs and if your players aren't rested you can't compete.

Once again, our rested players can beat anyone. Our unrested players can't even beat the Panthers.

DylanSensFan 04-26-2013 06:15 PM

Rest? Maybe Alfredsson... the rest of these players are going to be so hyped during the playoffs that rest will not mean a thing. Besides, they will rest between the regular season and the playoffs.

Oh, and remember when we rested in 2007?

Realistically, we are not going to win the cup. There is a decent chance that we could beat Washington in the first round, little if any chance of beating Pens or Boston.

All I understood is there is a chance.

Milan the God* 04-26-2013 06:33 PM

Guys, we might have sixth clinched by the end of tomorrow night, and seventh clinched by the end of tonight.

It's unlikely we'd get the #5 seed and play Montreal. It'd likely be Boston, unless we beat Boston in OT in the final game.

Our best option is going 1-0-1 imo. That guarantees us Washington. The Caps won't be an easy team, but I'd rather face them than the Bruins or Penguins.

Realistically, I hope the Sens aren't going into the playoffs with the same mentality as you.

My "mentality" is that I'm really pleased that they could make the playoffs considering everything they've been up against. I'm not delusional however. Of course they will go out there to win, and if they were to win one round, I would be real happy. But the chances of this happening are greatly different depending on playing Washington or, say, the Penguins. It is really a big deal to finish 6th instead of 7th or 8th.
