Thanks, Jochen. Your dedication and hard work are appreciated. Not always by all, but you had your time here and it was good.

Thanks for everything Jochen

Glad he got to go out with a win, loved what he did here in his prime, a glue guy who made his linemates better. Good luck Jochen!

Mr Orangeshirt 04-26-2013 09:13 PM

One of my favorite Sabres. Thanks and good luck to him. :handclap:

La Cosa Nostra 04-26-2013 09:14 PM

Longest tenured Sabre is now gone. He surprised me this year. I honestly wouldn't have minded him back for one more year as the 4th line C. Thanks for the 12 years :(

BackGroundMusic 04-26-2013 09:14 PM

I loved the guy in his prime, but he hasn't been there in awhile. Still, for two 2nds, he was a helluva player for the Sabres for a number of years, and he has the coolest looking skates in the NHL. I wish him nothing but the best, and kudos on a solid career.

Chainshot 04-26-2013 09:14 PM

The guys gave him the coat as player of the game too.

Sounds like he's going to play in the DEL. "Best for her... for the kids."

sba 04-26-2013 09:15 PM

That was sad...was 05-06 that long ago....damn :(

Hal2000 04-26-2013 09:15 PM

Surprised by that, to be honest.

Squantosawuss 04-26-2013 09:17 PM

Glad he went out on his own terms.

Paradigm 04-26-2013 09:17 PM

Thanks for everything, Jochen!

Always one of my favorite Sabres. I'll always remember his goal which put the Sabres up 2-1 at the end of the second period in game 7 of the Conference finals.

It was.

Glad he was healthy this year. They need someone to take up the mantle of how he played. Possession, defense, smart play. Hopefully some of what he does well rubbed off on others.

Also a bit of a sad day as I was at the draft in Toronto when he was acquired. I'm feeling old. :help:

comeonnow 04-26-2013 09:18 PM

Seemed like a great guy and a great teammate...good for him!!! Glad he got to prove it to himself and others that he could come back from the concussions.

BCS 04-26-2013 09:20 PM

Not enough people appreciated him throughout his career. He was particularly great for those two post-lockout Cup-contending teams and the division champions in 2010. Good luck, Jochen.

gallagt01 04-26-2013 09:21 PM

Thank you Jochen. Good career, good player, good person.

Anyone remember when Hecht fell right after an offensive zone faceoff and ate a Brian Campbell slapshot? Yikes. That guy couldn't catch a break for a few years here. Glad that he turned it around and turned in some excellent years.

This.

He was an oft under-appreciated player who was a key cog on those teams from 05-06 & 06-07. Thanks for everything Jochen!

I'm gonna miss the old Brochen one. Class act, played with his heart on his sleeve. I'm sad to see him go, but it's time.

He will always be one of my favorite Sabres.

Workensons 04-26-2013 09:28 PM

Happy trails, Jochen. Your defensive play will be sorely missed.

sabresfan129103 04-26-2013 09:34 PM

A great guy who was a very solid player. He gave this organization a lot of good years. I wish him the best of luck in the future.

zbubble 04-26-2013 09:36 PM

From having his ear nearly ripped off to three concussions in a year, I'm so glad he got through this year without injury and gets to go home with his health intact.

Tied for team lead in plus minus this year. And a career plus minus of 100. Some people never appreciated just how good he was defensively.

Good luck in the German league, I hope you tear it up over there next year.

Zip15 04-26-2013 09:36 PM

Thought he went out on a high note over the last couple weeks. Really liked him and Grigs together. Good luck to him and his family back in Germany. Perhaps they can bring him back in a European scouting role in a few years.

Thanks for everything, Jochen!

New Sabres Captain 04-26-2013 09:40 PM

Glad that Jochen went out a Sabre, not wearing some other sweater (though I'm sure I'd probably have been OK if it returned picks). Hecht wasn't a star, but he was a quintessential part of the last decade of Sabres hockey. Gonna miss all the "WTF" angle goals that he specialized in.

ZZamboni 04-26-2013 09:43 PM

Thank you Hecht! Good luck in Germany. Great teammate from all accounts. Professional thru and thru.
