No thanks to thomas.

He's a clown and a bigger distraction than Bryz

Flyotes 04-28-2013 10:24 AM

I don't care if Rush Limbaugh is in net as long as he makes the saves.

Prongo 04-28-2013 10:28 AM

Randy Miller also said we were interested in Ryan Miller? If Buffalo buys him out instead of trading him I would bite. If not let him stay in Buffalo.

I honestly don't think Buffalo will find many options to trade Miller to. Only one team really pops to mind is Edmonton. I don't think he waives for Phoenix.

FlyersFan61290 04-28-2013 10:35 AM

no thanks

i rather re-sign leighton to back-up mason if bryz is amnestied.

just kidding, i never want to see that goof in a flyers jersey again but i still don't want TT. that dude is not professional at all and i would rather the team go with mason/bryz or mason/ufa (not named leighton or tomas, even a european goalie would be fine in my book)

Flyotes 04-28-2013 10:39 AM

Flyer fans.
Possibly able to get elite netminder.
Resolute 'No.'

Which is worse: Bryz nightmare or Tim Thomas?

FlyingPhilly 04-28-2013 10:48 AM

I would take Tim Thomas on a 1 year contract. It could be a great low risk, high reward situation.

You can't claim Thomas is still elite after he's 39 years old and hasn't played in a year

That's why the keyword is possibly. If you surrender to the fact Bryz is overpaid and Mason is serviceable-- might as well see about Thomas. The reward could be huge.

Can we just role with Mason and Bryzgalov, sign Eriksson, buyout Bryz next offseason, and role with whatever that gets us?

No thanks to Tim Thomas.

Yes to this.

Love how he pushes other dude out of his crease instead of flopping at first contact. It hurts to see, but I hope Bobs has great career in the NHL.

I don't get on Homer too much, but I can't forgive the mistake of getting rid of Bobs. Every fan could tell the kid was something special, but MGM missed it.... Shame.

What ex-Flyers couldn't kill us? Bob would be no different. I still think the obsession with him still is pretty creepy. We got rid of him. Move on. Look forward to hoping that Mason will kick ass next season (getting back into form).

I really think getting rid of Bob was a much more tedious experience than many realize.

We cast this off as some flippant, spur-of-the-moment move by the front office, but I think it was more than that.

We signed an "elite" goalie for a lot of money. He struggled under pressure. Bob was pressure. We attempted to alleviate that pressure by removing Bob from the picture and committing to Bryzgalov. On top of that, Bob came to the NHL to play. He wanted to play, and though he would eventually have gotten the opportunity in Philadelphia, nobody could have seen this catastrophuck coming, Bob included.

Moving him from an organizational POV made sense as much as it burns inside.

Two good things could come from that trade...

1) Stolarz could be something awesome received from the Bob trade.
2) Mason could very easily rebound in Philly given the level of talent on our team.

Bob is definitely the better goaltender at the moment, but Mason was REALLY young when he first got involved with CBJ. He could grow tremendously from a change of scenery.

Also, if we put this in context of last season before Bob broke out in CBJ and Mason played well here...

Bob + Leighton + 3rd (2015)
for
Mason + Stolarz + Leier + 4th (2013)

...I'll take it.

He's still less of a risk than Bryzgalov/Mason.

Disagree. Don't want him in our locker room...or Bryz for that matter.

Prongo 04-28-2013 03:17 PM

I don't know how anyone would be comfortable bringing over a European goalie(Eriksson) to back up mason for next season. That just seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

What if Mason struggles and (Eriksson) struggles to adjust to NA hockey for some time. We will be in the cellar if this defense doesn't have significant changes to it. I would rather stick with Bryz and mason or go with say Tim Thomas/ Ryan miller route instead of having an unknown come over

Curufinwe 04-28-2013 06:11 PM

I don't suppose there any gifs of Mason's saves last night? Some of them I couldn't really tell how the hell he kept the puck out.

ILoveStephanieBrown 04-28-2013 06:21 PM

I have a really good feeling Mason is going to soften that blow of management trading Bob. Im cautiously optimistic of course, but I feel he turns his career around here.

Didn't you pull for Gagne after he left? People tend to root for players they like. Bobrovsky was well liked.
