Excited to see Brodie suit up for Canada.

Hopefully we will see Backlund playing as well. I hope he gets to play since it's hosted by Sweden this year.

I will be rooting for Brodie, but certainly not Canada.

Wow, the US must be thin...

Fleury14 04-29-2013 10:20 AM

The US usually has a very patchwork roster for the WCs, with euro league players or NCAA kids added to fill the ranks. I'm guessing the lack of exposure in the US makes it a tournament that not many Americans are overjoyed to be part of. Either that or the US braintrust doesn't like rejection, so they only ask players who never expect the invitation to begin with...

It's nice to see Brodie picked though, I would have guessed he would have been overlooked given the amount of Canadian D to choose from.

He's really played great since JBow left and started getting 28 minutes a game.

I'm glad he's developing so well. Reminds me of Doughty the way he plays.

Flames' best dman vs Flames' worst (regular) dman. Awesome!

FlamingTelepath 04-29-2013 01:01 PM

Berra and Ortio also selected. Berra is probably the starter for the Swiss and Ortio most likely Finland's backup but should get a couple of games.

Hudler will also be playing at the world championship.

Probably nobody wanted to go

I really hope Butler turns it around. He had loads of potential last year and Sutter saw that. But obviously he didn't come out this year, partly due to signing Sarich and Wideman when Babs, Gio, Brodie and Jbow were already fighting for spots

Volica 04-29-2013 09:57 PM

I know Butler really didn't play out of the gate this year. He made all of us nervous whenever he was on the ice. On the other hand, he picked his game up towards the middle of the season, and at the end of the season we even saw a bit of nastiness to his game.

I mean, he's a solid 4-6 D-man; I honestly felt much more uncomfortable with Sarich on the ice, and of course Babs... but I mean, Babs couldn't play in the AHL on most nights.
