Why no martschini but andrighetto yes?

jonas2244 05-09-2013 10:51 AM

If everyone stays healthy this is a very tough decision.

ficohok* 05-09-2013 01:51 PM

No Hoffmann on your list...

Darth Yoda 05-09-2013 02:32 PM

Alessandro Chiesa, is his lack of experience a deal breaker not to list him here? He's massive. Edit: Probably not, considering Ramholt amongst others are there.

On a more productive note i think your NHL-defenders could form an excellent depth chart if management decides to go that route. Maybe complete it with Blindenbacher and Seger. Forwards could still keep great continuancy considering maybe only Niederreiter, Brunner and Bärtschi is missing. Maybe throw them in an exclusively NHL-line if any of them can play center.

jonas2244 05-09-2013 02:47 PM

None of them can play C. But with Martin Plüss and Kevin Romy there are two very good players which could center this line. Romy and Brunner showed great chemistry last year.

On D there are 4 locks (Josi, Streit, Diaz, Sbisa). The rest has to fight for the other 4 players. I can see Furrer, Seger, Blindenbacher, Bezina, Vauclair, Du Bois, Weber and Von Gunten fighting for this places.

On Offence I could see:
Bärtschi - Romy - Brunner
Wick - Plüss - Nino
Bodenmann - Ambühl - Hollenstein
Moser - Trachsler - Walker

For me Sbisa wouldn't be a lock. He looks lost on big surface.

Sbisa will be there when he's healty, no question about that. He's stronger on small ice, that's true, but he's still too good to let him at home.

Completely agree, I think the small ice makes Sbisa looks better than he actually is, I consider him far behind Diaz, Streit and Josi. On the other hand, he still belongs in the olympic team. I would take Blindenbacher, Vauclair and Grossmann for sure.

Interesting lines. I think Romy, Plüss and Trachsler are locks at center, and Plüss and Trachsler could very well have the same linemates they have in Stockholm, although it's possible Moser replaces Bieber. Romy and Brunner should play together, considering the good chemistry they had last year, and Moser is also a possibility on this line, but I like Hollenstein there. That would leave Bärtschi and Ambühl as locks for the last line, and there are several possibilities for the last forward. Cunti and Suri are making a good case for themselves right, and there is still Wick, although he had a poor tournament last season. Also, let's not forget Rüthemann, who may be in better shape mid-season.

So there's my lineup:

Brunner - Romy - Hollenstein
Moser - Plüss - Niederreiter
Wick - Ambühl - Bärtschi
Bieber - Trachsler - Walker

But I'd consider Rüthemann with Plüss, and move Moser to Bieber's spot. Cunti and Suri could replace Wick too.

Interesting choice to put Schilt, he still does some mistakes but I think he really had a good season with Fribourg. Not good enough to crack the roster for an olympic team for the moment though.

For Chiesa, I think there are still a lot of defensemen to consider before him for the moment, but maybe that could change in a year. For the defense i'd say Josi, Streit, Diaz and Vauclair would be locks.

For the offense I'll follow svt11 for most, just putting Moser on the 4th line and Suri on the second.
Brunner - Romy - Hollenstein
Suri - Plüss - Niederreiter
Wick - Ambühl - Bärtschi
Moser - Trachsler - Walker

Monnet could be an option if he's doing a good season with Fribourg too.

chokei 05-09-2013 03:57 PM

Wick was fantastic in the last Olympics, and I also think that he's been playing better recently, since his change to the ZSC Lions. If he plays a good season next year he should have a spot on the team, but he will have to fight for it, a situation which Wick hasn't experienced for a long time with the national team.

I'm hoping that Nino makes another step of progression over the summer and next season so we can put him on the first line without second thoughts. Because if I look at a first line with Bärtschi-Romy-Brunner that line is skilled as hell but also a bit small. On the other hand, it's on the big ice, Bärtschi and Brunner are NHL players and Romy isn't small. But if it works I'd rather switch Bärtschi with Nino.

On the defense, Josi, Streit, Diaz and Sbisa should be locks. Sbisa might not be as good on big ice as he is on small ice, but his physicality is much needed on the defense.

Hiller in goal is no question to me.

IHaveNoCreativity 05-09-2013 04:11 PM

Interesting team.

I'd imagine Conz and Hiller will be there.

The D is pretty strong.

jonas2244 05-09-2013 04:17 PM

I'm quite sure that Hiller, Berra and Gerber will be in Sotchi.

SCBdude 05-09-2013 04:55 PM

I would like to see something like this:

Bärtschi - Romy - Brunner
Vermin - Plüss - Nino
Bodenmann - Gardner - Hollenstein
Suri - Ambühl - Moser

Sbisa - diaz
Josi - Weber
Streit - du Bois
Furrer - Bezina

Hiller
Berra
Gerber/Conz

If he continues to play as he does now, Hiller is probably the lock for number 1. The second and third place will probably go between Berra, Gerber, Stephan, Conz, Flüeler or maybe Genoni depending of the season perfomance. The goalie depth won't be a problem I think...

I have far more concerns about the center depth, depending on performance and injuries, there isn't a lot of choice.

Tanner Richard could be an option at C, too. It would allow us to use Ambühl on the wings.
EDIT: Nevermind, Sochi is probably a little too early for him.

Chose your Swiss Olympia Team!

I think you forget some names
probably a player like beni pluess shoud have a chance, as well a big solid defenseguy like chiesa/helbling as well.

Baertschi - M. Pluess - Brunner
Suri - Ambuhl - Nino
Vermin - Romy - Moser
B. Pluess- Gardner - Hollenstein

Diaz - Josi
Sbisa - Streit
du Bois - Chiesa
Blindenbacher - Vauclair

Hiller
Stephan / Berra

jonas2244 05-10-2013 03:42 AM

The attribute solid doesn't fit to Helbling and Chiesa. No way they have a chance when they didn't get a shot at this WC. Same for Beni Plüss.

and blum, grossmann and furrer? you call this guys solid? :naughty:

lets be honest, this guys all had an awful season

maybe helbling, but during playoffs he played really well.
chiesa is for me one of the most underrated defenseman in the league. Just because he's a big guy and can play an agiator doens't mean he's bad.

jonas2244 05-10-2013 04:19 AM

I don't care how they played during the year, important is how they play now or in Sotchi and I see all 3 in front of Helbling and Chiesa. And of those 3 only Furrer will have a chance to get a spot in Sotchi. So I just see no chance for Chiesa and Helbling. That does not mean that they are that bad, just not in the Top-10 of the Swiss depth chart currently.

ElTailR 05-10-2013 05:05 AM

I would like to see something like this :

Hollenstein-Romy-Brunner
Ambühl-M.Plüss-Niederreiter
Wick-(Cunti)-Bärtschi
Moser-Trachsler-Walker

Josi-von Gunten
Streit-Sbisa
Diaz-Blindenbacher
Grossmann-Furrer

Hiller
Berra
Stephan

I'm not sure about Cunti but I don't know who will be better at 3rd C (I don't want Ambühl playing C neither Gardner on the team and I don't think it'll be Richard breakout year with the Lightning so this is why I put Cunti)

Blum, Grossmann and Furrer are ahead of Helbling and Chiesa. Blum doesn't exactly fit with the other guy, so I don't think he has a chance for Sochi, but the way Grossmann plays now, he will get a look for sure.

Chiesa can't skate, he would get eaten alive at this level.

With him we just have to see how he develops until then. If he can get that kind of role in the NHL or have a Nino-like season in the AHL.

Dijay 05-10-2013 05:17 AM

My Swiss Team:

S. Baertschi-Romy-Nino
Brunner-Ambuehl-Cunti/Andrighetto
Wick-Bykov-Burgler
B. Pluess/-Trachsler-P Baertschi/Moser

Diaz-Josi
Sbisa-Streit
Weber-Chiesa
Seger/Bezina-Furrer
