Predict some trades this off-season.

Just throw some trades out there, preferably ones that make sense. If you want to be really fancy (and I know you do), try and predict when in the off-season they'll happen (pre-draft, post-draft, post-FA).

I'll start it off with one I heard on a podcast -

PK Subban for Oilers 1st (7th overall) and one of their young forwards.

Yep. I'm thinking Eberle.

I'm just spitballing here, please no-one get offended.

Eberle has probably the lowest ceiling of all four....but after a pretty lacklustre season, as a Habs fan I would still be a little hesitant to pull the trigger. I guess it would have to be at the draft and depend on what is still available at 7.

Would Subban for Yak straight up be closer?

I don't think this makes any sense.... Why would we give up Subban? He's one of the best defenceman in the league and we have no one even close to his level to replace him with.

Not saying it is going to happen....just giving my perceived value.....

Oilers Management to the Canadiens for a half eaten Donair and a bag of Old Dutch Potato chips

Overpayment on the Canadiens part, but people are hungry for change out here

**edit- Seriously though the 5 (I include Schultz as a non-tradeable asset) will not be moved. If anything, MacT will trade Gags, Lander and draft picks for bits and pieces**

Method Man 05-11-2013 10:01 AM

I think the Flames trade one of Stempniak, Cammalleri or Tanguay for a trade involving a 2nd round pick. No idea where to though.

Marlo Stanfield 05-11-2013 10:04 AM

Heatley + 1.5 mil retained to PHX for a 4th/5th

Schneider + 3rd to Philly for the 2013 1st + Cousins/Laughton

I can see Stempy coming back to the Coyotes if the ownership saga isn't worked out by the draft...

Heatley? I don't know, how would that effect the cap #'s for the Wild? Or if he would waive his NMC to come to the desert?

How about this as a counter offer:

Schneider + 2013 1st for Couturier + 2013 1st

SirPaste 05-11-2013 10:11 AM

Jason Spezza to STL for Berglund Rattie Cole and a pick

I think any one of them could be a decent fit for Phoenix to be honest.

PWJunior 05-11-2013 10:12 AM

Jonathan Bernier to the Isles for the 2013 1st rounder + 3rd rounder/B-Prospect.

Makes too much sense for both teams.

I feel like the Kings could get more for him. Especially since the Isles are in the playoffs so that pick isnt a lottery selection.

noBSleafsFAN 05-11-2013 10:18 AM

Hemsky to NJ

The Kings have some cap issues and unloading Bernier might have to happen. If Bernier was to be to offersheeted (last resort), his value would be a 1st rounder + 3rd rounder in that scenario.

While there should be some competition for Bernier from other organizations, the Isles would seem to be the team to give the value that the Kings would want.

on the ice, but Cammalleri's contract is too expensive.

Subban for Yak makes a lot of sense from an outside POV, especially if MTL can go out and trade for a guy like Campbell on the side

DesertDawg 05-11-2013 10:54 AM

Subban has more value to the Habs than any of the scenarios I see listed here. Best to keep him unless an overpayment is offered.

Why would we do either of these? We have 2 goalies.

No, it really doesn't make sense. He's the best player on our team and one of the top defencemen in the league. It makes even less sense when you see how horrible the Habs defence is.

FanHabtic* 05-11-2013 11:05 AM

How often does a team trade a Norris finalist (probable winner) in his breakout year and who is under 25? Geez, lose a playoff series and its trade Subban and Price... What is wrong with people??

Proven #1 d-man on a defensively weak team for an unproven, smaller forward that has 1st line potential. Great sense.

We could get Campbell on the side right now and we still wouldn't have a great defence.
