Weird enough, might have to root for Sweden here ;).

ChickenBurrito 05-14-2013 11:04 AM

If Finland wins today, then it's USA/Russia as well right?

That's crazy that 2 of US/Russia/Canada/Sweden wont make the Semi final

Correct.

QnebO 05-14-2013 11:12 AM

I will root for Sverige in this one clearly. For sake of atmosphere in Stockholm, and also if we manage to make it to semi's and win Latvia, I'd rather see good old fashioned Finland -Sweden game. Also Sweden is slight underdog I think. The game itself is best of the tournament on paper, worth watching for sure.. I just hope they play hearts out too.

One thing is for sure. With these two teams colliding here, alot of fans of which ever respective team loses, will claim to not care about the tournament, and the winners will not say that.

Byebye Canada, I won't be missing you at medal games.

Is there no crossover between pools for the playoff rounds? Any reason why not?

the host countries want to play the QF at home, I think. Being 3rd of the group Sweden could have ended up playing their QF in Finland for example.

Then they should have hosted separately IMO. Seems stupid to change the format just to make sure 2 teams don't play each other.

Interestingly enough this doesn't seem to be the stupidest thing about the tournament (reffing, attendance)

y2kcanucks 05-14-2013 12:04 PM

So lets say Canada and Switzerland win their QF matchups, would they face each other in the SF? Or is there a SF cross over?

There is a SF crossover

If Canada won they would play the winner of Finland/Slovakia (if Finland wins today)

Last year only Russia made the semis out of those four.

Czech Republic are stepping into gear at just the right time. Can see them beating the impressive Swiss.

I agree that hosting the competition in two countries is rather stupid.

Oyabun 05-14-2013 02:17 PM

Canada huh ?

I wish I could say it was fun while it lasted but who'd believe me. The crapness was present pretty much the whole time.

This!

jcbio11 05-14-2013 03:04 PM

This whole two host countries is ridiculously awful.

Attendance sucks (compared to Slovakia, Canada or Czech rep.), no cross over in QFs is kind of annoying as well.

slovakiasnextone 05-14-2013 03:07 PM

I don't dare to predict the result of any of these games. Anything could happen in each one of them.

Novak Djokovic 05-14-2013 03:21 PM

I hope Canada doesn't choke again.

Systemfel 05-14-2013 03:42 PM

They changed Finland's game to 18:30 EET now, thought it was strange with a 1 PM game.
