Jordan Eberle to the Islanders?

The Islanders should be in desperate need of getting a legitimate winger for Tavares to play with.

What is the value of Jordan Eberle to Garth Snow?

Scott Scissons 05-16-2013 04:48 PM

Always difficult for 2 young teams to come to some sort of agreement. Eberle is an outstanding player and I am sure the Oilers would want a kings random coming back.

I do not think either team can really part with any NHL ready talent going either way.

Senor Catface 05-16-2013 04:52 PM

The problem is that the sort of player the Oilers need, the Islanders also need. As in the Oilers would want a Harmonic type, and i Don't see the Islanders wanting to give him up.

Eberle and Tavares would be dy-na-mite though.

Oops, I mean "urz ain't getting our big 4 lololo"

Pierce Hawthorne 05-16-2013 04:57 PM

For the Oilers I would think it would have to include Hamonic or Reinheart.

Reinheart + Bailey or Hamonic + 2nd

That's what it would take from the Islanders POV and I doubt they would be willing to do that.

lakai17 05-16-2013 05:00 PM

I'm interested in Brock Nelson +

As an Oilers fan, it would take something much more significant than either of those packages to get me interested in trading Eberle. I don't see there being a deal there that would make sense for both teams.

Probably because both teams are in the same boat, IE both young talented teams.

Riseonfire 05-16-2013 05:06 PM

Winger for JT? Like Nino or Strome?

Islanders will fill that spot internally or FA. Only trade we make is for a goalie IMO.

Hamonic......no but Reinhart I would be willing to deal only in special cases(which I would consider Eberle a special case)

PWJunior 05-16-2013 05:09 PM

This has already been discussed in a pretty recent thread. The Isles are intent on building from within. Eberle is a luxury for the Isles and not worth the cost it would take to get him. The Isles are counting on the likes of Nino, Nelson, and Strome to be impact players in the very near future.

Like the Oilers, the Isles need help on defense. The teams are very similar in their rebuilds, they are not good trading partners.

Well then you're overrating Eberle, or underrating Hamonic.

Probably the Latter.

:help:

if Brock Nelson is the main piece then

If the Oilers decide to move Ebs, it will likely be for a #1 defenseman or a #1 goalie which is pretty hard to get, it wouldn't make sense otherwise.

I would personally add to ebs to get any of the two pieces i just mentioned.

But at the end of the day, Jordan Eberle will never be traded, IMO.

Isles think that between recent first round picks Strome/Nino/Nelson, they will find Tavares linemates.

http://www.newsday.com/sports/hockey...medium=twitter

Snow has no plans to go for broke on the free-agent or trade market this offseason, not with the solid core he's built through the draft and waiver wire.

"I don't think there will be too many changes," Snow said. "We want to continue down the road we started. We're just as excited about the prospects we have as the team that played this season. We've had some really good drafts and we have a prospect pool we like, not just some of the players at Bridgeport. It bodes well for the future."

rockinghockey 05-16-2013 05:53 PM

Hamonic would be nice but we need a dman that can play on the left side.

lakai17 05-16-2013 05:55 PM

A) Frans Nielsen + Niedereitter

B) Brock Nelson + Kyle Okposo

Thanks for posting this.

I'd also like to add that Eberle's value to Snow dropped when he inked that contract that will pay him more than Tavares. Like it or not, it is a BIG factor to Snow and Wang.

Also, Hamonic is not available so consider him one of our 'Big 3' along with JT and Martin.

McMozesmadness 05-16-2013 06:09 PM

For Eberle it would tak a pretty sweet package:

Eberle

For

Hamonic
Okposo
Nelson

That's a pretty god deal and would be what it would take

.

Oh, I agree. Even if Snow was shopping for a 1st line winger, Eberle's $6m salary is too big for the Isles.

Edmonton does that in a heartbeat and New York wants nothing to do with it.

Eberle is too small. Terrible proposal nonetheless.

I can see Islander fans' point. I mean, look how Hamonic has lit up the NHL. Okposo? Fugget about it. 25 year old 20 goal scoring wingers are a premium these days.

Thank you for you amazing contribution to the discussion.

Would rather see Hall or Yakupov than Eberle. Would actually be willing to pay something for them.
