I still somehow cannot believe it.

Fin9* 05-19-2013 11:43 AM

Lets go Switzerland! First medal guaranteed for the first time in 60 years. Go for the gold baby!

LiveeviL 05-19-2013 11:47 AM

I can live losing against Swiss but nah, we will break you.

SillyBilly 05-19-2013 11:51 AM

I can't remember ever seeing such a young unexperienced bunch of people playing like one dedicated team. Their effort has been relentless and a beauty to watch. I really could live well with anything but a close loss. I predict an early lead for the swedes, than two quick swiss goals in the second period and an empty netter for the finish. 3-1. Go get it :handclap::handclap:

Road to the final

21 05-19-2013 11:52 AM

I'm kind of worried that Switzerland will play a very boring defensive counter attack hockey, 'Russia light'.

Hopefully I'm wrong and I wish for a fun offensive game.

Let the best team win.

If Enroth and the Sedin line continue their domination we should win this.

Hopefully Landeskog will score a goal or two though, it's time! :-D

svartgul 05-19-2013 11:52 AM

Go Sweden, let's break the curse! If we don't win this time I won't actually be that disappointed, Switzerland has waited long enough for some success.

Reikai 05-19-2013 11:54 AM

Switzerland will win. They're the best TEAM in the tournament so far and Sweden with the pressure of being the home team. And outside the 1st line they have nothing. As soon as Finland figured out how to slow down the Sedins Sweden had nothing going for them. Switzerland's depth, speed and hunger will ultimately bring them their first gold.

In fact, this could be a blowout.

Did you watch the previous 9 swiss games? They played anything but ''boring defensive hockey''. They were the best offense after the first 7 games and outskated the US in the semis during 50min. You shouldn't be worried.

You wont break them.. If they lose, it's Swiss just having their stomach full of succes already.. They aren't used to play for medals, and the way they talked after the game.. like they would've achieved something special.. I fear that it could display as some kind of feel-good surf start for the gold medal game.

Swiss are the better team, but Sweden has the better Sedins in this game. And those two always deliver.

habsrule4eva3089 05-19-2013 12:02 PM

For mes amis Swiss, How's the atmosphere in Switzerland, is everyone packing bars and staying home to watch the game?!

Finland figured out how to slow down the Sedins?

Curufinwe 05-19-2013 12:08 PM

Is the game on TV in the US?

Well yeah. After the 1st period they didn't have many quality chances 5 on 5.

And Switzerland is more capable of limiting opponent's chances than Finland.

The Swiss are no longer operated by Ralph Kruger's defensive mechanics. They are a puck possession team that have controlled play in all 9 games they've played in thus far.

If Switzerland wins: Not bad :handclap:

Nice little run by the Swiss but it ends tonight.

Congratulations on the silver!

IIRC Sweden is known for his defensive system - in german it is called "Schweden - Riegel" :sarcasm:. So you probably have not followed the Swiss games so far playing well in all 3 zones. Still think Sweden has better chance to win this - but only by a 60 to 40 edge.

Go swiss go :handclap:

Watching games in bars is kind of an underdeveloped thing here imo (outside of big football events with public viewings). Given that we have three different (free/public) broadcasts (in three languages) of pretty much every bigger sport event (every major football tourney, Champions League, hockey, tennis, moto GP, Formula1, Olympic Games, etc.), people are kinda spoiled and accustomed to watching sports at home. Also, add to this that hockey is clearly sport #2 (maybe even #3 behind tennis). I'm sure a ******** of people will watch the game, but most will stay at home.

They created 2 more goals after the 1st period as well as brilliantly defending the lead in the last 10 minutes by keeping the puck in the offensive zone. I'd say they had a brilliant showing through and through.

Of course they were great. But 2 goals? Other was on the PP (i said they didn't do that much 5 on 5 after 1st period) and the other was empty netter.

I was referring to offense. Sweden won't score many goals against Switzerland tonight if they can shut down Sedins like i think they can.
